In this episode of CBS’ The Young and the Restless, Victor lectures his children for making themselves accessories, Adam tries to make a deal with Abby, and Chance tells Abby what he suspects. In the previous episode, Nikki wanted Chance to back off, Summer had a warning for Diane, and Phyllis tangled with Nikki.

Adam runs into Abby at Society and notes it’s been awhile since they had the chance to talk. She’s surprised he’s visiting her restaurant given he’s cut ties to the family.
He can’t get crab puffs anywhere else. Besides, Victor has nothing to do with them. Adam would love to talk to her about something. Instantly, she accuses him of having an agenda. He wants to talk about Locke’s death.
After he orders some food, they talk about the death. She was shocked and he sensed something terrible would happen. She’s not shedding any tears.
They discuss how rough this has been for Victoria. The same can’t be said for Victor. Adam asks about Chance’s doubts. She claims she doesn’t know much and accuses him of fishing.
He guesses she’s as much on the outside of this as he is and suggests they pool their resources. She moves her hair and sighs.
Victoria bumps into Chance at Crimson Lights. They chat about how her kids are coping with losing Locke. She adds his investigation isn’t helping things.
The cop just wants to close the book and move on. If that’s so, she suggests she end it now.
They get a table and he tells her it’s not that easy.
She wonders where this is headed and if he is going after her father. Would be accuse Nick of killing Locke and then covering it up with Victor?
Nick arrives and interrupts. The siblings ask what he plans.
The cop tells them he thinks it was an accident…but they don’t know what happened after that. They should know that the more defiant they are, the more he will think they are covering for their father.
Nick says no one wanted Ashland to die but he was not a good person and he would protect Abby’s sister again in a heartbeat. It was the tragic end to a terrible story.
Chance gets a call from his wife, who wants to meet. He takes off.
The siblings head to the patio and he talks about how hard it is to deal with Locke’s death. She’s sure Chance will do the right thing and side with the family.
Nick’s not so sure and thinks they should tell their father about the conversation they just had.

Chance meets his wife in the park and she immediately asks about Ashland’s accident. Everyone is acting weird and Adam is suspicious.
He promises to tell her everything when the case is closed.
Abby has a sick feeling in her stomach so he tells her in confidence that Nick accidentally killed Locke and Victor covered it up on his own.
He admits this is just a theory. Abby finds this unbelievable, although it sounds like something her dad would do. He’s certain he can find evidence.
Victoria thinks he should walk away but he doesn’t think he can let a criminal off. “I desperately need to know what you’re thinking,” he asks.
She tells him how despicable Locke was. She doesn’t condone what her father did but understands it. But she won’t ask him to back off since he might regret it one day.
She’s sure if he looks inside himself, he’ll know what to do. He loves how open they are with each other. This is his decision.
Sally is on the phone in her office, talking about data. When she gets off the line, Victor is standing there. He thinks they should talk.
She’s surprised it took so long for this to happen. He admits he’s disappointed she didn’t convince his son to stay on board.
She’s grateful for the chance she has and wants to prove herself.
Victor tells her he’s been pleased with how she’s handled the Locke story. He’s sure she knows more than she’s published. This is the chance for her to build something.
He talks about his legacy and his hopes that she will prove herself so she can stay in her position. “Is that a compliment or a warning?” she asks.
Later, Adam stops by. She assumes he’s digging about his father. He accuses her of being on Victor’s side and asks what insider information she has.
Sally won’t share and tells him he’s pathetic. Adam knows he hurt her but she should be grateful he ended things. He offers to pay her for information.
She only agrees to give him what he wants if he will admit that he still loves her and broke up with her to protect her job. He gulps and claims this is ludicrous.
Chloe jogs in, annoyed to see Adam there. She reminds him he doesn’t work there anymore.
Adam tells Sally they can finish this later. Chloe shuts the door on him and tells Sally how disgusted she is by the hope in Sally’s eyes. They need to leave the past in the past.
Sally says that she and Adam were just negotiating. Her friend thinks she’s playing with fire. Spectra insists she’s not looking for a reunion, just to solve her self-doubt.
She claims she would have lied to him once she got what she wanted. Chloe’s glad she stopped her then because that would have made Adam furious.
Sally thinks she’s wrong and insists that he’s changed. None of this is convincing to Chloe, who warns her she will never know him until she’s experienced him at his worst.
Nick and Victoria arrive at the ranch. Their father has been waiting for them. He tells them about his conversation with Nikki and wonders how she found out what happened.
Nikki understands what he did. He wanted them all in the dark for their own protection. He points out they are all accessories to the crime now.
Nick tells him he should have thought of that before putting this in motion. “Don’t be a wise ass,” his father says. He wanted to protect them and they are attacking him.
They insist they aren’t attacking him, but they are worried that Chance is getting close to what happened. Victor doesn’t care. They need to just present a united front and put this behind them.
Adam wanders into the park. He spots Abby kissing Chance before walking off. He approaches the cop, who refuses to answer any questions.
Adam has an offer for him. He’s sure the cop is in a tough spot and suggests he need someone on the inside who can discover what happened.
“Maybe I can help you,” he suggests. Chance squints.
