In this episode of CBS’ The Young and the Restless, Victor isn’t happy to hear Sally’s the new COO at Newman Media, Nick and Nikki discuss Cassie, and Ashland gets an interesting message from Peru. In the previous episode, Dominic needs a donor for a bone marrow transplant and Abby and Devon are tested.

Victoria finishes up on a call when Victor drops by her office. She thinks he’s there to ask her if she knew Ashland financed the company in Peru. “So, you realized he lied to you?” He asks.
Victoria feels betrayed that her dad dug around in her husband’s past again. Victor isn’t there to talk about him. He wants to know how the Newman/Locke acquisition with Newman Media.
She says it’s fine and tells him that Adam hired Sally Spectra as his COO. Victor leans in. He’s shocked. She has no experienced. Victoria thinks her dad should focus on her brother, not her husband. Victor goes to talk to Adam.
Ashland gets a text from someone that reads, “The American is still digging around the clinic.”
He sighs and puts his phone away and heads into Victoria’s office. She tells him that her dad isn’t on a fishing expedition about him. She reveals she tattled on Adam appointing Sally COO without her dad’s input.
Ashland doesn’t see it that way. He thinks Victor trusts Adam. Victoria thinks he wants her to keep an eye on him. She sees how her dad plays the game. Ashland says they shouldn’t underestimate him.
He doesn’t like taking orders from them and won’t sit back and accept his fate. It’s a matter of when Adam makes his move. Victoria thinks that instead of waiting for Adam to screw up, they should “make damned well sure that he does.”
They gloat and think that once Adam is gone and Sally, Ashland will oversee Newman Media himself. She grins. It’s his pleasure. He’s used to maintaining a strong hand over everything he controls. Victoria looks puzzled. “Everything you control,” she repeats. She thought they both controlled the company. He backtracks and she hopes he believes they’re in it together.
He is but calls it a slip of the tongue. He apologizes that he didn’t share about his financing the clinic in Peru. He asks her not to let her dad plant doubts about him in her mind. Adam’s the untrustworthy one. He gets a call and professes his love before leaving.

Sally thinks about sex with Adam before she knocks to get into his office. He lets her in and jokes about her rarely knocking. Sally says they crossed many lines yesterday. He asks if she regrets it.
She doesn’t. At all. He tells her nothing has changed except they don’t have to pretend they don’t want to rip each other’s clothes off every time they’re together.
She thinks things are going to stay hot as long as they’re within ten feet of each other. He grins. He calls their Valentine’s celebration exciting like an earthquake or tsunami. “Or wildfire,” she says.
He talks about cleaning the office after — not that he’s complaining. She tells him there tends to be aftershocks from earthquakes. He likes the sound of that. Sally calls them careful not to let Chelsea know when they saw her but wants to define their relationship.
She can’t stop thinking about sex with him. He calls it spectacular and they laugh over how they broke his stapler. He calls it collateral damage. She doesn’t want what they shared to be a casual hookup. He agrees it’s not. He’s ready for this. “I want to be with you,” he says. She grins. “I want you,” he says.
He asks for her honesty and she confesses that as tempting as it is, she doesn’t want to continue this if it means they’re going to sneak around. He doesn’t want that either.
He has too much respect for her to think that way. She’s amazed and grins. He admits he was thinking about her last night and couldn’t get her off his mind. He wanders closer to her and says he can’t think of any reason he’d want to keep her a secret. He moves in for a kiss and they hear Victor say, “I can.”
They turn to look at him. Sally picks up the stapler and Victor says it looks like his hands are full. He can come back. Vic says Adam doesn’t need distractions.
Sally asks if that’s what Adam thinks she is. He shakes his head no and tells his father he owes Sally an apology. Victor says she’s had a hell of a career in a short time. He asks how she did it.
He thinks she’s punching above her weight but Adam has faith. He talks about her marketing, finance specialties and sings her praises. Victoria brings up her duplicitous issues. Adam says they all have done things they regret. Sally interrupts.
She won’t keep apologizing. She is sorry people got hurt but Summer landed on both feet. She has plans to bring Newman Media to the top. She says she can do this. Victor ignores her and tells Adam he wants to talk to him alone.
Sally takes off. Adam calls Sally the right choice. Victor’s upset that his son didn’t discuss it first. Adam doesn’t know he needs his and Victoria’s approval for everything. He says perhaps Adam should hand in his resignation.
He defends Sally as the right woman for the job and is tired of defending her. Victor says he won’t stand in the way as long as she’s a team player and proves herself. Adam sighs in relief. He won’t regret it. Victor says they need to talk about his mistrust of Ashland Locke. He’s discovered inconsistencies regarding his cancer treatment.
Adam asks why he’d fake it. They ponder that and Victor asks him to spy for him and report to him if he sees inconsistencies. Adam’s not sure he’s the best person for it since Ashland hates that he’s onboard.
Victor’s intrigued. Victor acts like he’s not asking his son to spy and when Adam asks if it’s a test of his family loyalty, Victor says if he loves his family and his sister, “You’ll do as I say.” Adam smiles.
Nicholas stops by the ranch to see Nikki. They talk about work and how unfairly Adam and Victoria fight about work. He’s concerned she’ll wind up in the crossfire.
Nikki will sidestep it all with her usual style and grace. Nick hopes she’s right. They talk about how his trip to Milan helped his mood. Talk turns to the engagement party and that Tessa and Mariah are adopting. Nikki’s thrilled. She grins that soon, she’ll be able to call Sharon “granny.”
Nick smiles and then wishes Cassie would have lived. They talk about him having grandkids one day. When it happens, they’ll have to add a wing to the house. She admits she knew what and who Victor was when they married him. “Every time I married him.”
She adored him but talks about Newman Enterprises being a part of them that takes up so much space in his head and heart that she wishes he found a way to keep the family together through the company. Nick is glad he doesn’t have to struggle the way Dad has.
Sally returns to Adam’s office when his father leaves. She learns she’s still COO. Adam tells her that his father was impressed with her though he’ll never say so. She thanks him for defending him. He’s impressed too. He’s in awe, actually, that she went toe-to-toe with his father. He’s shocked. He never would have known. They laugh.
Adam closes the door and repeats what Vic told him about Sally. She’s still suspicious but Adam believes in his father this time. Adam reveals that his dad told him he’s got something else major on his mind.
Victor returns home and Nicholas talks to him about it not being a good idea that Victoria and Adam are being forced to work together. Victor says he’ll always have a place at Newman if he wants to keep the peace. Nick appreciates it but declines. He’s worried about his sister getting hurt.
