In this episode of CBS’ The Young and the Restless, Jack tells Phyllis she hasn’t changed, and she vows to prove she has, while Tessa’s throat gives her issues, and Nick is thinking about a change to his work situation. In the previous episode, Victoria learned that Adam was made CEO of Newman, and Nick learned where Vicky’s living.

Allie and Noah flirt and go for a jog through Chancellor Park. They return and Noah calls her fast. She says she’s a runner and does it daily. He wishes he had a routine. She thinks he can create new habits. He’s not interested. It’s uninspiring. She flirts and thinks it’s inspiring that he watched her kick his butt.
Nick gets coffee at Crimson Lights from Sharon. She brings up the press conference. He knew that all of this was coming since Victoria took off and reunited with Ashland.
He lets Sharon know that though he disagrees with her situation, he’s in good with her. He complains about his dad putting Adam in the CEO seat. “The second round of games is about to begin,” he tells his ex. Nick knows Adam’s done a good job of evolving this last year but he doesn’t care about Victoria.
Sharon thinks Nick might be worried over nothing. She wonders why Nikki didn’t appeal to take the entire job on. Nick says this isn’t about business. It’s personal. Sharon can see that they put Adam in charge so Victoria would run home.
She guesses it could work but wonders where it’ll leave Adam. Nick knows his bro isn’t a ‘dummy’. He admits there are times he’d like to have more influences when crises pop up. Sharon asks if he’s considering going back to Newman.
The situation has had him rethinking things. It’s been a while since he’s felt this. Things were going well when Adam was crushing it at Newman Media and the rest of the family were taking care of Newman. He’s worried about how this will play out.
At home, Mariah works on her computer and Tessa appears after she puts her guitar down. She clears her throat and rubs her neck and worries her music is distracting to Mariah. Mariah says it’s wonderful having a private concert from her wife.
They love calling each other ‘wife’. Mariah tells her wife she’s getting up to speed on the fashion industry now that their company acquired Marchetti. Mariah’s glad Kyle’s sticking around, even with Summer.
Tessa grins and finds that very mature of her. Mariah says but that means Diane will, too. She finds it complicated for many. Tessa hopes Kyle knows they’ll support him no matter what. Mariah told him. She knows what it’s like to suddenly have a mom turn up out of nowhere. Tessa searches for tea and honey. Her throat’s a little sore, still.
It doesn’t ‘really’ hurt to sing she says but she’s been resting her voice. “I’m sure it’s no big deal.” She has no other symptoms and assumes it’s allergies. Mariah worries.
It’s been bothering her since they returned from their honeymoon. “I’ve heard of these amazing people. They’re called doctors.” Tessa asks her instead to take a break together.
At home, Jack reads Phyllis’ text asking to meet. Diane asks if he’s alright. He covers. She asks to take Harrison to the park. He lets her and while she goes to get the kid, he texts Phyllis, asking what there is to discuss.
She calls and tries to convince him that they shouldn’t let Diane ruin their progress. He reminds her this isn’t about Diane. She says he’s right. He’ll come to her. He disconnects and walks by Diane as he heads out. She wonders what’s up.

Tessa and Mariah appear downstairs at Crimson Lights. Nick is surprised they came out from their honeymooning. He teases them and they give him a look.
They’re seeking tea for Tessa’s sore throat. Sharon worries and suggests Tessa see a doctor, making Mariah feel validated.
Nick agrees, and they all tag team Tessa. She finally agrees to call her doctor. Later, Tessa’s gone, having got into the doctor right away.
Mariah goes back to work and the parents talk about Newman again. He’s not making any moves again but they’re just talking in broad terms.
He’d have been in a better position in helping to protect his sister’s seat and would have been able to support his brother. She asks where he’d be most satisfied.
Diane interrupts Noah and Allie at the park. She’s glad Allie found another young person to hang out with.” She thinks Noah could introduce her around.
Noah barks at her and Allie looks embarrassed. Noah can’t pretend nothing happened. She did messed up stuff and he doesn’t plan on getting over it anytime soon. Diane smiles, but looks uncomfortable.
Allie defends Diane, who knows she’s done terrible things. She can take Noah’s hate. She runs off to gather Harrison. She watches him play and flashes back to thanking Allie for helping her find her son. It’s all she’s wanted to be with her grandson.
Jack arrives at Phyllis’ hotel suite. He warns that anything she has to say will change nothing. She offers wine.
He refuses and she drinks some for her nerves. She tries to convince him. “This isn’t going to work, Red,” he tells her. She asks for a chance and apologizes. She wasn’t using him.
She thinks he should be furious with her. She talks about there insecurities.
He says he’s been through this with her before. She’s a master at faking. She tears up and says she truly regrets things.
What they had wasn’t the beginning of a relationship, he tells her. She’s shocked and he calls what she did a calculated move to one up Diane.
She regrets it because it backfired. He thought she changed. He starts yelling and tells her that she’ll have to accept that whatever fleeting moment they had is over. She vows to prove she’s changed.
She reveals she’s reached out to Diane with an olive branch. Jack says Summer wanted that. Phyllis tells him it wasn’t easy on her but she did it because it was the greater good. For us.
“There is no us,” Jack tells his ex. Phyllis reminds him of their connection while they were in L.A. He says that was friends’ connection and they should have settled for it.
He takes full blame for crossing the line. He thinks he may have destroyed the friendship but she denies that. He asks her to look at her relationship with men the last few years.
He calls it a disaster. “Wow, that’s low.” He says, “Look at me, Billy, Nick.” She sabotaged them. Maybe this is who she is. “No matter who you’re with, it’s never enough.” He asks why she does this. She can’t believe he said that. He meant it. For her, it’s about the chase, not having it. He storms off.
At Crimson Lights, Noah apologizes to Allie for reacting to Diane. She thinks it’s fine. Noah points out that she doesn’t know her history.
Allie agrees, but thinks forgiveness is important. She considers that if her father forgave Jack, they would have been family before his death.
Tessa arrives home to Mariah, who asks how the doctor’s appointment went. “Not as I expected,” Tessa says, looking shell-shocked. She reveals her doctor says she thinks she has vocal chord nodules. She panics.
She’s frightened this could take her out of the tour or worse. They’re talking about surgery. Mariah supports her and hugs her. She says they’ll take it one step at a time.
