Canadian Y&R day ahead recap for Monday, January 31, 2021 episode, which airs in the USA Tuesday, February 1. (Recaps live by 5:45 PM EST daily.) In the previous episode, Ashland goes behind Victoria’s back and Sally lends Adam an ear. In this episode of CBS’ The Young and the Restless, Ashland leaves Victoria out of business again, while Michael makes a huge discovery about Ashland’s treatment and Sally’s so upset that Chelsea and Chloe won’t take her with them on their new venture, she lashes out.
At Society, Chelsea and Chloe worry about what the sale of Newman Media means to their jobs. Chelsea wants to fight, which makes Chloe happy. They head out.
At the coffeehouse, Lauren watches Michael reading his phone and asks what he’s doing. He’s working for Victor, though admits he doesn’t know what they’re up to yet after the Newman Media sale.
He mentions talking to Fen and then his mind is on his phone again. She was hoping he’d have more time off before he made the move. Nearby, Nick and Faith discuss her visit to the University of Michigan coming up. She likes the business program.
She thinks she may go into the fashion or beauty industry. Nick’s very surprised. She looks up to the women in her family who run businesses and thinks she inherited the dream. Nick’s supportive but says she doesn’t have to decide now.
He questions if her grandfather tried to give her advice. She denies it but thinks he’ll be happy to hear her news. “Oh yeah,” Nick insists. “He’ll be thrilled.” Nick stops by Michael’s table and hears the news.
He’s glad it’s Michael and not him working for his dad. He goes and Lauren wants details about his work but Michael says it’s confidential. He takes a call.
Nikki approaches Victor at home. She asks if Adam is staying with Newman/Locke but he has no idea yet. She asks what he’ll do if Adam refuses. He avoids the question by offering to take her to lunch.
She knows what he’s doing. He thinks he and Adam will maintain a good relationship, either way. She doesn’t want to see them in a big blowup.

At the office, Victoria assures her husband Adam won’t work for them. He asks if he would have turned it down by now if that were the case.
Sally finds Adam in his office. She asks if he’s made a decision and needs another pep talk. He says it’s not necessary. He tells her he’s made up his mind and she’ll hear his verdict soon. He goes.
Elena and Nate relax at the Grand Phoenix, happy to take time off work. Nate remembers all of the paperwork waiting for him. He didn’t realize how much of the job was administrative.
He may take Ashland up on his offer to work for Newman/Locke. He says Locke offered to mentor him in business. She’s shocked that it sounds like Ash is going to replace her with him but Nate says he was thinking of taking it further. Bigger.
She blames herself for not being able to do the job he loves. He doesn’t. He has a great life. He loves her.
Adam stops by Newman Enterprises. Victoria assumes he’s there to decline the offer but he’s not going anywhere. He’ll keep the job. He calls himself a team player. Ashland watches them with his eyebrow up.
Victoria’s shocked but welcomes him aboard. Ashland hopes they can make this conflict-free. Adam wants that too. He expects to maintain the same level of autonomy but Victoria pooh pooh’s that thought.
She’d like to see where he can take things before she does that. Adam turns to Ashland and asks for his opinion. He agrees with Victoria. Chloe and Chelsea arrive.
They congratulate her on the sale and say they look forward to working with her. They ask if she’s going to honour their contract. Victoria isn’t hiring anyone new for Newman Fashion. She feels a connection with Sally because of it but she’s jettisoning the entire platform. They’re rocked and thinks it’d be a mistake.
She thinks they might want to go forth with their own brand. She calls them talented but they’re not interested in the hassle and cost in crating a new clothing line. She wishes them the best.
Adam finds Nikki and Victor at Society. He tells them he’s staying with Newman Media. Nikki gives a half smile but Victor’s all in. He knows his son made the right choice. Victoria and Ashland appear and ask to toast to the news.
Adam can’t say no to champagne. Ashland pulls Victor aside. He has changes he’d like to implement once they takeover. Victor thinks they should have Victoria in on this. They’ll discuss it later. Champagne appears and they toast their new venture. Everyone files out and Nick heads in. He sits with his parents and tells his dad to be careful for what he wishes for, having most of the family working together. Victor sees it as a boon. Nick hopes it does well and tells them about Faith’s university news. They’re happy to hear it. Once he goes to get his food, Victor and Nikki talk about the new power dynamic forming between their daughter and Ashland, especially after his news about his illness. Victor is planning on watching his every step.
Chloe and Chelsea sit at the coffeehouse and discuss what to do now. They consider starting a fashion platform themselves. Chelsea doesn’t want Sally involved, which causes Chloe to roll her eyes. Sally is a proven asset. “I disagree. She’s baggage.”
Chloe asks why she’s so threatened by Sally since she and Adam are over. Chelsea thinks she knew the sale was in the works and kept it to herself.
Back at the office, Ashland wants to talk about redefining Adam’s role but she has other plans. She thinks they need to redefine someone else’s role first. “Yours.”
Chloe and Chelsea find Sally at Crimson Lights. She starts right in and tells them they should prove how powerful, dynamic that their platform is. Chelsea lets her know their fashion platform is being killed. Adam’s going to Newman/Locke. They explain what all went down.
She asks what they’ll do. Chloe thinks they should go their separate ways but Sally thinks they should start anew on their own. Chelsea tells the redhead to move on. Sally’s surprised Chloe would do this. She knows Chelsea wouldn’t be interested in working together.
She assumes they’re conspiring to start something together. She thinks it’ll fail since she’s not going with them. She reminds them of their garment she made for Victoria and Chelsea snarks that it was just one dress and to move on. She calls Chelsea a hack and Chloe a fool and stomps off.
Adam heads back to his office and looks at his photo of Connor and around the room, wistful.
Back at the ranch, Michael interrupts Nikki and Victor with business. She goes and he tells his boss there’s inconsistency regarding Ashland’s medical treatment and some question surrounding the treatment’s legitimacy and the clinic in Peru. Victor wants Michael to dig deeper.
