In this episode of CBS’ The Young and the Restless, Phyllis vaguely tells Amanda about the Diane situation, Sharon refuses to back away from wedding planning, Tessa makes a request, and Traci offers to listen to Kyle. In the previous episode, Kyle was stunned to hear Diane is alive and Sharon lashed out at Chelsea.

At the Abbott estate, Kyle tells Jack that his mother being alive is impossible. Jack was stunned too but Diane wasn’t in the coffin at the funeral. His son wonders where she has been all these years.
Jack explains she wanted them to think she was dead. She faked the whole thing and stayed away by choice. The doorbell rings. It’s Ashland. He is eager to see Harrison if he is awake.
Kyle guesses something is wrong. There’s no explanation. Harrison comes down and notices Locke is covered in burns. Ashland tears up and asks if he can take him to the park. Jack thinks that’s a lovely idea.
Once Ashland leaves with Harrison, Kyle admits to Jack that it is hard to say goodbye to his son for any length of time. So how is it that his mother could disappear for so long is baffling.
Jack explains that Diane claims she planned the entire deception when she hit a low point and saw no way out other than to start afresh. His son wonders why she has come back now. He missed her so much. She could have been there to share so many memories.
His father explains everything that happened with Allie and how Diane wanted him to help him reunite with her. Part of Kyle wishes he never told him this. Jack knows how he feels, but what he does with this information has to be his choice.
Kyle needs to speak to Summer before he makes any decisions. Jack explains that Diane has a suite at the Grand Phoenix because she wanted to be close.
Sitting down, Kyle says that he heard rumors about his mom for years but always tried to believe the best. His recollections of her are all loving and fun. For years it was just the two of them.
Jack is glad he has positive memories. Kyle says she was a good mom but a good person does not do what she has done.
Jack never wanted to destroy Kyle’s love for his mother. But there are many things he doesn’t know about her. Even worse things than the article in Restless Style claimed. He struggles to believe she has transformed herself and part of him wishes she’d stayed dead.
But she’s not dead and won’t let this go. He needs to decide one way or the other how to deal with her.
Diane keeps pacing her room at the Grand Phoenix and puts on her hat to get out of the place.
At Crimson Lights. Mariah and Tessa try working on their guest list but are out of it. Elena shows up and pays her condolences. Mariah tells her that Sharon is putting on a facade to cope. She’s sacred it will all come crashing down.
Mariah talks about what a rock Rey was. Now Sharon thinks she needs to be a rock. Elena says he was a pillar and his loss is devastating everyone. They tell her that Sharon has insisted that they go on with the wedding plans.
“Life still goes on,” Elena comments as Diane walks in. Mariah goes to the counter to serve her and tells her there’s been a death in the family. When she wonders if she’s seen her before, Diane says it’s been a while and runs out.

At Sharon’s, she searches for a wedding planning folder. She starts crying when she finds a note from Rey saying he picked up paper towels.
She remembers Rey telling her that they had more than a physical attraction. That’s when they admitted they loved each other. She flashes back to him carrying her over the threshold and all the hopes they had for the future.
Noah eventually interrupts this and then Nick and Faith come in. She wonders why Faith is out of school. Her daughter says it is fine. She just wants to be with her family.
Sharon is grateful that they are all there with her. After her family urges her to take the day off, she insists on going in to do wedding planning.
Amanda strolls into the Grand Phoenix to see a manicurist to repair her chipped nail. She bumps into Phyllis and they chat about the merger and how undramatic it all is. Everyone is happy.
Phyllis wishes she could not experience family drama for once. Sitting down, Amanda asks what’s going on with Jack now. Phyllis can’t explain. It’s too complicate and too personal.
Kyle is back in town and Jack has to tell him big news. She explains that someone dangerous from the past is back in town. Phyllis is confident this other woman is no match for her.
The lawyer starts digging into whether this is about one of Jack’s exes returning. As Phyllis starts venting, she spots Diane strolling through the lobby and abruptly sends Amanda off to her manicure.
Stalking over the Diane, she demands to know what she is doing out of her room. She tells Diane she may want to reconsider being dead and hounds her onto the elevator.
Jack arrives and informs Phyllis that he broke the news to Kyle. She fills him in on Diane slipping out. They worry about how to handle her. Phyllis wonders what his son will do. He has no idea. Kyle did love his mother very much, even with all of her issues.
Now he thinks he may have protected him too much in shielding him from all of Diane’s crimes. Phyllis is sure that once everyone realizes she is still alive, they will think she is even more wretched than they did before.
Kyle goes to Society and calls Summer, leaving a message asking her to call him back. Traci shows up and joins him. She guesses that his father has told him the news. They are all in shock.
He doesn’t know how to process it. She urges him to talk it through. “I don’t even know where to begin,” he admits. Traci tells him his mother’s behavior has been outrageous and cruel. Kyle is confused. His mother seems complicated and he can’t get past her letting him believe she was dead.
Back in her room, Diane continues to pace and sigh.
When Sharon gets to Crimson Lights, Elena tells her how great Rey was. He was always fixing things in the apartment she shared with Lola.
Mariah and Tessa ask Sharon if she wants to delay the wedding planning session. In tears, Sharon insists this is what she wants to do. She knows she will be up and down and all over the place but she can’t sit around worrying about breaking down.
She really needs to grab on to whatever she can to stay afloat and the wedding is a life raft. Her daughter says the wedding will be a port in the storm. Nick says he’s all in. They sit around a table to plan.
Tessa knows that she and Sharon haven’t always seen eye to eye, but they have become true friends. She would love Crystal to be her maid of honor but legal issues are in the way.
Tessa asks Sharon if she will step in and walk her down the aisle. Sharon would be honored and tells her she’s already family.
Turning to Nick, Mariah tells her that he’s been amazing and was a great father to her sister. She’s hoping he can do for her what he couldn’t do for Cassie and walk him down the aisle. Nick would be honored. They hug.
Back at Sharon’s, Faith sobs about Rey. Noah tells her that life is hard. He’s sure their mom doesn’t want to see them breaking down. They need to let her feel her pain and work it out however it works for her.
