In this episode of CBS’ The Young and the Restless, Phyllis tries to keep Diane under wraps, Noah encourages Tessa and Mariah to go ahead with the wedding, and Sharon decides where Rey should be buried. In the previous episode, Victor blamed Locke for Rey’s death and Sharon disputed Celeste’s wishes to bury him in Miami.

Jack and Phyllis arrive at The Grand Phoenix marveling at how three people they knew were all in the same accident. He’ll drop by and see Sharon later. He barely slept last night thanks to the knowledge that he has to tell Kyle his mother is alive.
He tells her about his argument with Diane. It didn’t do any good and she is still there. Phyllis assures him she has ways to keep Diane at bay. He worries about how Nikki will react to hearing that Jenkins is back.
Diane paces in her suite and recalls her argument with Jack. She shakes her head and sighs, recalling how impossible it is for Jack to imagine she’s changed. All the waiting is driving her nuts, so she puts on a floppy hat and heads out.
When she gets off the elevator, Jack and Phyllis corner her and order her back to her room. She wants to stretch her legs, but Jack warns she could ruin everything if one of her old enemies spots her. If she needs to relax, they’ll send a masseuse.
Nikki shows up. Jack distracts her as Phyllis shoves Diane into the elevator. Nikki asks who that woman was. They sit down and chat about Rey. Victoria is very broken up about it.
She turns the topic back to the woman that Phyllis smuggled out. He asks if she has the emotional strength to handle this and warns he’s about to blow her mind. Jack explains that Diane is not dead. She’s alive and well and in Genoa City.
Nikki is sure this must be a trick, but Jack insists it is true. She still refuses to believe Diane could pull off something this complicated. He explains that Deacon helped her. “That sonofabitch!” blurts Nikki. Jack says she claims she’s reformed and wants a chance with Kyle.
Nikki demands that he bring her to Diane immediately.
Phyllis escorts Diane to her room and they begin bickering about room service. Phyllis wants her to understand the severity of the situation or more stringent measures will have to be taken… like cuffing her to the bed.
Diane tells her to stop butting in where she doesn’t belong. “This is very much about me,” Phyllis tells her. She’s not going anywhere. Diane refuses to acknowledge they are part of the same family tree.
Phyllis reminds her she made an agreement with Jack that she would stay quiet until Kyle could make a choice. Diane accuses her of blowing everything out of proportion.
Suddenly, Jack raps on the door. When they open up, Nikki is standing there. “Where is she?” she demands before Phyllis steps away and reveals Diane is there.
Kyle and Harrison arrive at the Abbott estate and are surprised that no one seems to be home.

At their place, Tessa admits she was surprised that Mariah wanted to come home instead of staying with Sharon. Mariah figures her mom could use some space. They worry about how Faith is handling this.
When Mariah calls Faith, she leaves a message to let her know they will be around if she needs to talk. Tessa hands her coffee and Mariah remembers how much Rey loved Sharon. They should have had years together. That’s lost now.
Tessa comments it doesn’t make any sense. Noah arrives to see how they are holding up. He feels horrible but knows it’s nothing compared to how their mom is feeling. He’s hoping that spending some time with Nick will help.
They don’t know how to help. Tessa is sure that they help just by being amazing. Noah can’t wrap his head around how brutal Rey’s death was. He and their mom went through a lot and always came out stronger.
Tessa always admired the quiet, beautiful intimacy between Rey and Sharon. He was always planning romantic nights for them. What they had seemed like it could survive anything, even cancer and Adam.
Mariah is scared of how her mom will deal with losing him now. She feels guilty for thinking about what it would be like to go through what her mom is. Tessa tells her not to feel guilty about having thoughts like that.
Mariah wonders if it’s insane to love fiercely when there is so much to lose. Noah tells her it’s not. Love is hard to find and you’ve got to live it. Tessa holds her hand and promises that she will be by her side for better or for worse.
Sobbing, Mariah admits she doesn’t see how they can’t delay the wedding. Tessa agrees. Noah tells them it wouldn’t be fair to Sharon. If their mom asked them to go ahead with the wedding as planned, they should honor that.
Mariah thinks Sharon is just overwhelmed but Noah thinks she meant it. Maybe it will help her work through the pain and cope. Obviously, it’s their decision, but he urges them not to push the wedding back for Sharon’s sake.
They agree to keep the wedding date. Mariah decides maybe it is the perfect time for them to spread hope while everyone is hurting. They hug. Noah smiles.
Sharon sits at home, fiddling with her ring and looking at her wedding pictures. Nick joins her on the couch and she admits she wasn’t prepared for any of this. She probably shouldn’t be surprised by Rey’s mother’s request to send his body to Miami.
She wonders if she should fight allowing him to be buried in Florida rather than in Genoa City where he made a life with her. Nick suggests she think about what her husband would have wanted.
She says that part of Rey never left Miami. He would always show her his favorite spots when they visited. She knows he wished he could spend more time with his family. Now he will never see them again.
“I think Rey would want to be buried near his family,” she concludes. She thanks him for talking this out with her and wants to call Celeste back to start the arrangements.
He tells her she doesn’t have to do this on her own. The family is there to help. “I need to do this for Rey,” she says. Once this is settled, she can turn her attention to the wedding. She doesn’t want it delayed because of this.
Abby and Chance stop by to pay their condolences. Chance tells her this is a horrible loss for the community. Abby hands her a bag of food and offers to leave her alone. Sharon tells them to stay and Nick leaves to call Celeste.
Sitting down, Sharon tells them that things are under control. She asks Chance how Rey seemed since he was the last person to speak to him.
Chance says he was normal. Sharon’s last words to her husband were a casual “I love you.”
She’s glad they did that but had no idea that would be the last goodbye. Holding Abby’s hands, tears run down her cheeks.
Blowing her nose, she apologizes, afraid she’ll turn into a puddle on the floor if she starts weeping.
Chance tells her he couldn’t have asked for a better partner or friend. Everyone on the force admired him. Sharon says he liked to mentor people.
His former partner says that you always knew that Rey would have your back and give you stellar advice, even when it was tough. “He’ll never be forgotten,” he assures her.
Sharon shows them to the door and thanks them for all the kind words.
Once they leave, Nick explains that he spoke to Celeste and she’s very grateful that she is honoring the request to have her son’s body transported.
Sharon realizes she doesn’t have much time to go to the morgue and asks him to go with her. “I need to say goodbye,” she says.
