Soaps Spoilers has the Canadian Y&R day ahead recap for the Friday, October 8, 2021 episode, which airs in the USA Monday, October 11. (Recaps live by 5:45 PM EST daily.) In the previous episode, Ashland suggested he call off the wedding. In this episode, Nick confronts his parents for supporting Victoria and learns his sister refuses to forgive him while Gaines wants to humiliate Ashland by ruining his wedding.
Jack finds Phyllis in her room daydreaming while looking at the beautiful scenery. He brought her dress she left on the jet. She’s grateful as she’s wearing it to the cocktail party. He asks where Nick is. She says he’s taking the bull by the horns and hopes it’s worth it. She respects that he’ll go above and beyond for someone he loves but sometimes talking nice isn’t the way to go. She’s afraid that’s what he is trying now. Downstairs, Nick finds Victor and Nikki. Hugs are given and Nikki’s sad to learn Victoria hasn’t changed her mind about min attending the wedding. Nikki’s not sure Victoria will be ready to hear him. Victor tells Nick he brought this on himself. Nick reminds his dad that he too dig into Ash’s past. Victor retorts that the difference is that Ashland revealed everything to him. He doesn’t want anyone to cause problems on her big day. Nick’s shocked that they’re both on board with the wedding. He’s been lying his entire life. “He got everything he wanted because he exploited the dead.” In the other room, Nate’s having issues coming up with a best man toast. “I am no speechwriter.” He wants to be brilliant. They go for a walk and try to figure out how to make the toast good.
Billy and Gaines arrive in their suite at the palazzo. Gaines thinks he’ll spend some of his pay-off money on a palazzo like this. Gaines asks how it’ll play out, hopeful that Ashland is humiliated while waiting for his precious bride to walk down the aisle. He wants fireworks but Billy isn’t interested in bringing the pain. He’s there to protect his ex, not cause her more pain than necessary. He wants her to know the proof that she’s about to marry a criminal. He tells Gaines to sit tight while he finds Victoria.

Victoria and Ashland are in their room. She wants to focus on their love and wedding. He kisses her forehead and says it means so much that she’s standing by him, despite what she knows. She keeps imagining him as an abused teenager leaving everything behind and then losing that one friend in the world in an accident. Worst of all, he felt like his mentor betrayed him on his deathbed. “The story haunts me,” she says.

Billy runs into Nate and Elena. He’s looking for Victoria. They hope he’s not there to ruin the wedding. He takes off. Meanwhile, upstairs, Ashland has a cough that makes Victoria concerned. He promises he’s fine. He won’t let anything get in the way of reciting his vows. She goes downstairs once she’s dressed and Ash takes a seat and coughs a little. Back in Phyllis’ room, Jack and Phyllis receive wedding photos from Summer and Kyle’s wedding. Phyllis says her daughter is stunning. This splashy wedding doesn’t hold a candle to their children’s. Jack doesn’t think they should compare them. He goes.
Downstairs, Nick can’t believe his parents are making excuses for Ashland. He left his best friend to die in a crash. Victor asks him to let it go and accept her decision. Victoria appears. Her parents ask her to hear Nicholas out. She says it’s fine. Nothing could upset her more than she already is. Once Victor and Nikki are alone, they hope that Ashland’s secrets about forging the will codicil stay buried because if Nicholas hears, he’ll be pretty upset. Outside, Nick hates that this is coming between them. He swears he was hoping he wouldn’t find anything shady. Nick will respect her decision but he’ll never trust this guy. Victoria tells him she doesn’t trust him any longer. How can she confide in him again. He doesn’t want to break their trust. He needs her to know he’d never hurt her on purpose. Vicki won’t forgive him but he can stay. He hurt her and it’s not her job to absolve him. Her focus is on Ashland and her wedding. She turns and takes off. Nikki finds her daughter and is glad that she is allowing Nick to stay. Jack appears and they discuss how gorgeous the palazzo was. Victoria’s sorry she missed Summer and Kyle’s wedding.

Billy finds Ashland in his room, coughing up a storm. “Looks like you can use some help. What can I do?” He offers to get Nate but Ashland’s fine. He asks for water. Billy gets him some. Victor shows up and tells Billy to get out or he’ll have him thrown out. Billy turns to Ash. They’re not done yet. Ashland disagrees. He thinks Billy should leave the premises. Billy asks where he can find Victoria and Victor tells him he’s pressing his luck and to stay away from his daughter. He won’t have him destroy her happy moments. Billy vows he won’t be the one to cause the bride distress. He goes and Victor tells Ash that Gaines was with Billy on his chartered flight. Ashland sighs. Vic reminds the man that he’s the only other one who knows about his crime.

In their room, Nick tells Phyllis that he’s allowed to stay at the wedding, but she made it clear that she hasn’t forgiven him. Neither of them can understand why Nikki and Victor are on board with the wedding. Phyllis thinks Victoria’s being petty. Nick tells her this isn’t an opportunity for her to bash his sister. Phyllis isn’t doing that. She just wants him to know she’s on his side. Nick feels bad for hurting his sister. He doesn’t want to cast a shadow by staying. She hopes this doesn’t mean they have to go. Elsewhere, Victoria talks to Reed. She hates that he can’t make it too but she gets it. She assures that she and everything else is fine.
Victoria joins her father and Ashland who are discussing Jesse, when Billy goes back to his own room and can’t find Gaines.
