Soaps Spoilers has the Canadian Y&R day ahead recap for Thursday, October 28, 2021 episode, which airs in the USA Friday, October 29. (Recaps live by 5:45 PM EST daily.) In the previous episode, Nick was angry Phyllis brushed him off for Jack. In this episode, Abby leaves her child and runs off, there is more information about Chance to learn and Phyllis tells Nick she’s not happy.
At home, Devon and Amanda worry about how Abby will feel if Chance definitely is dead. Devon doesn’t get why Chance risked bringing his engraved watch with his name on it with him on a trip like this. Devon knows she’ll need a lot of support if he really is dead. Amanda says if it comes to that, she’ll get it. Talk turns to Sutton’s case. Amanda admits she decided to take the stand at Sutton’s trial. She needs to do this. He supports her. She asks if he ever gets tired of being the nicest guy on the planet. “I mean, you should know that’s a front,” he says, laughing. He tells her he’s no saint. He’s angry at someone right now and knows it’s not justified. “Who?” She asks. He admits it’s Chance. He knows it’s unfair and prays he’s safe but he’ll let him know how he feels if he does return home.
Victor lets himself into the Chancellor mansion when nobody answers the door. Abby’s on the sofa with headphones in. She asks if they found news. He says no. He came to check up on her. He asks why the door is unlocked and she says she was trying to do relaxation exercises. He asks when she last ate or drink and she can’t remember. She needs to know what happened to Chance. Victor urges her to go and get food right now and to keep the door locked. She goes and returns with tea and says she had a sandwich. She tells her dad that Ashley stayed over and that she’s been searching for Chance since she left. She can’t just wait for word. She shows Victor the building that the bombing happened in. The report says it’s a bombing but she read it was a gas leak. She needs proof that her husband is alive. “I have news,” he says. She asks why he waited until now to tell her. He didn’t tell her until she had something to eat and says Christine was right. There was no gas leak. Someone put a bomb in thereafter they found out Chance used it as a safe house and he and his colleagues were directly targeted. He tells her they’re still searching for him but the four colleagues were classified as killed in the line of duty. Abby cries that his name wasn’t on the list which must have meant something. She thinks he might be safe somewhere and when the coast is clear, he’ll come home. They discuss Nina. Christine insisted on being the one to tell Nina but she’s waiting for confirmation. Victor doesn’t like that she’s being kept in the dark. “Why don’t I call her?” Abby will tell Christine to let Nina know. She’ll want to be the one to tell her best friend. Abby and Victor agree to remain positive. They embrace. He tells her he’ll always be there for her. The baby cries.
In Chancellor park, Mariah and Tessa talk about how Mariah texted Abby to see how she is. She hasn’t heard back. Tessa thinks no news is good news. Mariah worries that the lack of information will stress Abby out more. Mariah worries — what if Chance is really dead? “Poor little Bowie,” she says. Tessa asks her not to go down that road. Mariah says it’s made her appreciate her gifts, “Like you.” Tessa calls that sweet. Noah jogs up and Mariah notices he’s never run before. He started in London. Mariah gets a text and needs to work. She goes and Tessa tells Noah about Chance. He’s shocked. She asks him not to tell his family yet since she’s not sure who knows yet. He agrees to keep quiet.

B&B’s Oct. 27 recap – Eric rises to the occasion
Nick has breakfast for Phyllis. He’s not trying to use romance to dodge their issues. He wants to try to work things out. “I’ll give it a try,” she says. He reminds her they did this a year ago. She asks if they’re going backwards and in circles. He doubts it. Even the strongest of relationships need to be reexamined. Neither regrets their time together, but Phyllis says they’re not doing well and something is off. She’s not sure what it is and it feels like they’re going backwards. She wants to be where it was good and asks how. They both want to try.
He apologizes to her and tells her he took out his angst toward his family on her. She appreciates that. She thinks when she went after Sally and Tara, that’s when things between them changed. “All you did was kept on giving me warnings.” That exasperated her. He reminds her he eventually supported her plan but he was worried she’s was going to go overboard. “Really? Because that’s something I would do. It’s in my DNA. It’s who I am. And you telling me not to do that? I don’t get it.” He never meant for her to feel she couldn’t be who she is. He was trying to be the voice of reason. Reason doesn’t work on her, she reminds him. They agree they have major differences between them. It almost hurt her that he didn’t let her be who she is. Nick talks about how important his family is. He’s not proud but that’s who he is. She knows. He says she took issue with it in Italy. “Do you honestly think that was productive?” She says she doesn’t want to do the whole thing where they gloss over their differences by having sex. She wonders if they’re taking each other for granted and then agree they appreciate each other.
She thinks he likes the fun side of her but there are parts he’s not fond of. They had the same talk a year ago and agreed to let each other be who they are. Nick thinks there will always be things they don’t like about each other but Phylis thinks it goes deeper. Nick says it never seemed to matter until now. He’ll always be close to his family. She thinks he’ll come around to his family by Thanksgiving and will be laughing with them as if nothing has happened. She says none of them will ever change. She’ll always be reckless, wild, and brash. She asks if he’s truly happy and he hesitates. He worries she isn’t. “Are you?” He asks. “I’m not happy,” she confesses. It hurts to say it. She’s not happy right now and doesn’t think he is, either. Nick takes offense that she’s putting words in his mouth. She says she isn’t. “We are a lot more than video games and hot sex,” he tells her. She agrees. He tells her “some people,” think that’s all they are. She asks who said that and he refuses to admit it was Sharon. Instead, he brings up Jack always waiting in the wings for her. Phyllis doesn’t care about Jack having feelings for her. It doesn’t mean he doesn’t want the best for them. Nick doesn’t like her going to Jack every time they have a problem. Phyllis says he’s been a friend and has helped her.
Mariah arrives to see Abby and a crying Abby runs out the door, leaving the baby with Victor. Mariah worries and Victor hands her the kid and says he’ll go after her. Devon shows up and Mariah tells him Abby ran out and Victor chased her and left her in charge of the kid. Devon asks why she left but Mariah has no idea. Christine arrives looking glum. Devon asks if she has news.
Victor finds Abby in the park and hugs her and tells her it’s okay to let it all out. She can’t in front of Dominic. He’s sensitive to her emotional state which is why she left. Victor thinks he’s a strong boy. She claims she feels Chance is alive in her heart, but then wonders why she’s falling apart. Victor thinks it’s pretty obvious.
Victor and Abby arrive home. He tells her she can handle this and to call if she needs him. She has a lot of people who love her. He sees two right now. Abby sees Mariah and Devon and Christine. Abby asks Christine to give it to her straight. She gives Abby Chance’s ring. Victor comments, “He wouldn’t wear that undercover, would he?” Christine says he did. He adapted it as part of his undercover story. He didn’t want to ever take off his ring. Abby looks at it and sobs, “It can’t be!”

Jack tells Nikki, “I feel for Nicholas these days clearly under a lot of pressure, not getting along with Victoria, or Adam or Victor.” Nikki stops him. “Or Phyllis, apparently. How much do you know about the tension between them?”
Nina gasps and sobs to Abby as they embrace. It didn’t seem real until this very moment.
Gaines turns up on Billy and Lily’s doorstep, disheveled and dirty. “I didn’t have anywhere else to go. I’m not safe. Can you hide me?”
