This is the Canadian Y&R day ahead recap from the Monday, July 5, 2021 episode, which airs in the USA Tuesday, July 6. In the previous episode, Ash’s symptoms get worse, and in this episode, Mariah has a strange encounter with Stitch, Naya wants Amanda to be her lawyer but asks her to do what Sutton wants, and Ashland feels worried that Victoria will experience a loss when he dies.
At the ranch, Victor thinks that Adam will help make their company bigger, better, and stronger. He goes.
At the psych ward, Chelsea bitches to Chloe that Adam is planning on erasing her from Connor’s life and she just learned Dr. Hedges is not on her side. She learns that Connor’s coming home and that Adam is moving to the ranch. She thinks he’s got his hooks into Adam and that they’ll poison Connor against her. Chloe says Connor loves her and they won’t do that. Maybe she’s blowing this out of proportion. Chelsea asks her friend to imagine she was in her position. She has a plan and needs Chloe to pull it off. After Chloe’s gone, Hedges appears. Chelsea calls him Victor’s flunky, following his orders. Hedges laughs. Chelsea asks what would happen if it got out that he was on the take from Victor. Hedges says it doesn’t matter what people think. He’s there until he says she’s getting out. Chelsea reveals that she’s recorded the conversation and her friend is on standby, waiting for her. She shows him her phone and sends the recording to Chloe and wants Hedges to do things her way. She wants him to release her and state that she’s in good mental health. Later, Chelsea texts Chloe to see if she got the recording. She did and saved it to the cloud. She calls Hedges the worst. Chelsea says soon, she’ll be back with her son.

Ashland lays in bed after sex with Victoria. She stands over him in a towel and asks if it was worth the wait. He says she made a dying man feel like he can live forever. “And that is truly a gift.” She tells him to prepare himself for the gift that keeps on giving and throws off her towel and gets into bed. After round two, Ashland wanders in his robe. He felt lower than he’s ever felt but now, everything is different. I feel energized and strong, thanks to her. She smiles. He wants to go out with her and feel the sunshine on his face. Victoria reminds her that today is the day the article came out. Is he up for all that scrutiny? He doesn’t care. He loves Society. “Let’s go down there and order their best champagne.” She giggles.

At Crimson Lights, Nate jokes about jonesing for those Society crab cakes. Moses is upset. He’s been having nightmares over that. Devon looks concerned. He recalls freezing in a blind panic. Nate argues that Elena’s been in this situation for years. Experience makes it easier. Faith turns up. She has a question about the books on their summer reading list and they go off. Moses thanks her for getting him away from all that. Later, Elena appears and tells Devon and Nate that Faith and Moses are so cute. Devon says Moses has a big crush on her. Devon is glad Nate and Elena are okay with one another. He invites them for drinks at his place later. Outside, Moses admits he isn’t reconsidering a career in medicine, but he’s not sure if it’s right for him. What if it’s something he needed to do to please his mom. Faith says he is still young. He doesn’t have to lock his future in this moment. If he’s not going to learn about being a doctor from his uncle, his mom might like him to go back to New York. Faith hopes he stays — he’s her only friend. Losing him would make her sad.

In her suite, Amanda tells Naya she’s happy that she agreed to allow her to be her lawyer. Naya wants to discuss Sutton’s defense plan. “I’m guilty,” she says, so the secret of the two babies would stay secret. Imani shakes her head. Neither she nor Amanda believes that. Naya doesn’t want her going after Sutton and Amanda tells her it’s more than a theory. She’s willing to face the consequences of prison so he can look clean? She yells, “You need to stop this right now, Mom.” Naya looks shocked. “Mom. You never called me that before.” Amanda needs her to understand what they are to each other. “Daughters are supposed to listen to their mothers.” Amanda says they’re also supposed to protect them. Naya asks why Imani isn’t on her side. She doesn’t want her mama to go to prison. Amanda asks Naya to renounce her murder admission. They argue about whether this is Naya’s fault or if Sutton commissioned Richard’s murder. Naya insists there’s no proof that Sutton did this. Amanda vows to find it if it exists. She can find the means and motive of why Sutton didn’t want it to get out that she was pregnant out of wedlock. Naya refuses to give in. If she wants to take her case, she must follow Sutton’s guidance. Amanda refuses. Naya admits that she has had time to think and is on Amanda’s side. Naya thinks Amanda has brainwashed her into going along with what he wants. Naya will have Sutton fire Amanda unless they do thinks on her terms. Imani begs Amanda not to let it happen. Saving their mother comes first. Amanda agrees. She’ll explore other options to get an acquittal. Naya thanks her daughter and goes. Imani knows she was bluffing. Amanda admits it. She’ll get their mother off and Sutton will pay for what he did. Devon arrives. Amanda tells him that she’s handling Naya’s case, though she won’t be happy with where it’s going. Imani says she’s helping. Devon tells her he invited Elena and Nate for drinks. Amanda likes that idea and moving forward. She invites Imani. “Tonight’s about family. You guys are family.”
Stitch stops by Society. It was great seeing her again but he understands if his presence reminds her of what they lost. She says that was a long time ago. “Safe travels,” she says. Adam appears and asks how things are. He says he has to go and takes off. Adam says that was surprising. Abby says they’ll probably always have a connection since Adam saved him from the fire. Abby says you never know which Adam you’ll get. The one everybody loves to hate justifiably, or the one who saved Ben and Faith. He says, “I guess I like to keep folks like you guessing. He says he’s trying to make up for all that.” He goes. Later, Victoria and Ashland appear and while Ash goes to sit, Abby fishes for information on how Ashland is and if they’re dating. Victoria tells her sister they’re friends. Abby says he looks healthy. She hopes for love for Vic. Victoria says, “Let’s not get away with ourselves.” Adam greets Ashland and Victoria appears. Ash has breathing issues and then goes to take a call. Once he’s gone, Adam sarcastically says, “Well, he seems fine to me.” Victoria defends him and is surprised Adam cares. “Well he is on the board of Newman Media,” Adam says and he admits he is changing. He knows she has doubts but others are willing to give him a chance. He can tell she’s growing close with Ash and asks if she’s prepared for what’s coming. He asks to bury the hatchet but she says loathing him is like breathing for her. She knows this new Adam won’t last long. Ash returns and suggests they take a weekend getaway. “Might be just what the doctor ordered.” He goes. Victoria tells Ash that Adam was fishing. They need to be careful until this deal is done. Abby appears and asks if everything was to their liking. Ash says it was lovely. Victoria asks if she connected with Stitch. She did but he’s heading back to Iowa. She goes and Victoria tells him that she was married to Stitch. Ash thinks their relationship is better than what he’ll ever have with Tara.
Stitch runs into Mariah at Chancellor Park on a run. Stitch says no doubt she’s read up on the best exercises for pregnancy. In fact, an old colleague of his worked up a whole program for pregnant women. He offers to get her in touch. Mariah’s good. She’s doing this run for her. She needs to clear her head. She loves being pregnant and is happy to help Abby but she’s a lot more than ‘this’ as she points to her belly. He apologizes for mansplaining.
In his suite, Ashland wishes he’d sold Cyaxares to her instead of Adam. She does too. Ash sits and tells her he felt so good after they made love but he needs to get their business done before he’s too weak. Being with her was wonderful and he’s worried he’s creating complications for her that she doesn’t need. He’s dying. This isn’t exactly fair to her.
Back at home, Adam tells Victor they should not wait to make their move, especially if Vic will make her own. He tells him about how Ashland had breathing difficulties and canceled his L.A. trip. Suddenly, Dr. Hedges appears. He has something to talk to Victor about. Adam worries about what’s up with Chelsea.
