In this episode of CBS’ The Young and the Restless, Adam makes a sacrifice for Sally, Locke gets word that The Grinning Soul has a podcast about him, and Diane is offended by Locke and Michael who ask her for a huge favor. In the previous episode, Chelsea begged Billy for a job, and Adam wanted revenge.

Victoria’s hard at work at Newman Enterprises when Nicholas appears with a bouquet of beautiful flowers to welcome her back. She thanks him. He playfully tells her he’s almost forgiven her for letting them think she chose Ashland over the family.
He lets her know he’s coming back to Newman and she cheers happily. They hug. She wants him to be her COO. Nick thinks this will make Adam resent them more. Vicky doesn’t want to discuss him so Nick brings up Locke.
She says that’s ended. There is nothing connecting them anymore. She boxed up his things and put them in storage. “It’s over.” Nick worries if she’s underestimating the man.
He won’t shrug it off. Victoria’s confident that the man was crushed. He’s probably tired of getting burned by them, though it’ll happen at least once more, she teases. She reveals what she asked Billy to do.
Nick wished she would have told him first. Making it public will come with a cost. People will wonder how they could put the company at risk. She wants to discredit him. He knows but worries it’ll backfire. Victoria thinks she knows how to handle Locke. She’s already proved it.
At Society, Victor’s happy to see his wife’s appetite is back. She’s thrilled Victoria’s home and calls it wonderful that their children are close again. Victor wants them both running the company. Nikki thinks it may be happening, but Victor wonders where Adam fits into this.
Nikki hopes he comes around and gets over his disappointment over losing the CEO position twice. She winces. Michael arrives and Nikki says she’s off to check in with her new investigator who is checking on Diane’s time away from Genoa City.
She refuses to update Michael since he’s still friendly with her. When she’s gone, Michael updates Victor. Ashland chartered a jet from La Guardia to O’Hare and never showed up. Michael isn’t sure where the man is.
He talks about the restraining order against Harrison and asks how he wants to handle the situation. Victor calls the man dangerous. He has an idea.
At Crimson Lights, Billy shares the news about Chelsea coming on board to be his critic for his podcast with Lily. She doesn’t know about The Grinning Soul. He says Victoria asked him to do a podcast on Ashland, the phony cancer, and the lies.
Lily’s shocked. “You didn’t agree to that did you?” He didn’t commit. They agree there’s a risk, especially after what happened at Chance Comm. Billy says Victoria will be giving them the information. It’s not like Gaines.
Lily doesn’t think that’s the selling point. Billy reminds her he’ll just find another victim and Billy doesn’t want that to happen. Lily agrees but it doesn’t mean they should be the ones to out him. Billy agrees to talk to Amanda first, which puts Lily’s mind more at ease. She’ll allow it if Amanda gives thumbs up.

Diane and Harrison eat ice cream on a bench at the park. She tells her grandson that his daddy loved ice cream when he was his age. Ashland stalks them from behind a tree.
Diane sees Harrison’s friends and sends him to play while Ashland shows himself. Diane greets him and says she thought he was outside of Genoa City. He’s not supposed to be around Harrison. Locke knows.
He wants to see him from a distance. Diane’s in no position to help him. He begs but she refuses to jeopardize her relationship with her son. She says no and walks away.
At Newman Media, Adam cheers Sally on while she makes a deal on a call. He says she needs to hire a CEO. She asks if he’s really ready to walk away from his family and the company, permanently. He vows not to oust her from her position.
She’d understand if he did but he assures her that it’s not happening. She deserves this opportunity and he wouldn’t rob her from doing amazing things here. She tears up. It’s all new to her, someone having faith in her abilities.
She dries tears and she says he doesn’t need to make this sacrifice for her. He says it’s not a sacrifice. He won’t be forced “deal with people’s crap.” He’s talking about his family. If he doesn’t get away from them, he feels he’ll explode.
Sally blames whatever Ashland said to him. She doesn’t want him so caught up in thoughts of revenge that he loses sight of what’s best for him. Adam claims he knows what he’s doing. Sally says Locke doesn’t care about him. She does. “Please, don’t blow me off.” She’s on his side.
It sucks knowing that his dad brought him back to Newman just to get Victoria back. “Baby, look. I know you mean well,” he says but nobody knows what it’s like to be treated like the black sheep. He’s not and never will be on equal footing with his siblings.
Sally urges him not to give up. She calls him the best choice to run the company. Soon, everyone will see it but if he gives in to his anger, he’ll take himself out of the running.
Adam tells her he was never in the running. “I’m done.” Sally’s afraid for him. There’s bound to be blowback. “C’est la vie,” he says. Vic appears at the door as Adam says all he can think about is how sweet revenge would be. “Is that really how you feel, son?”
He asks Sally to excuse them so she leaves and Victor encourages Adam to stay and work with his siblings to increase the legacy of the Newman family.
Victor says he was happy working at Newman Media.
It’s become bigger since the Chancellor merger. Adam calls himself a placeholder for Victoria and now, suddenly Nick leapfrogged over him, too.
Victor says Newman Media can be his domain to implement his own ideas.
He’s asked Victoria to treat him with respect. Adam says why would she when he doesn’t. “I’m tolerated, but not appreciated. Ever,” he yells. Victor reminds him of his history. The damage he did. “You wanted to kill your father,” he yells.
If he acts vengefully now, he’ll affirm what his siblings thought of him. Adam asks what else he’s supposed to do. He’s out. Victor has tried to integrate him into the family.
He tears up as he calls Adam his son. His blood. “You walk away from this, you’ll break your father’s heart,” he says before leaving. Adam’s eyes tear up.
Nikki arrives at Newman Enterprises and can’t believe the sight she sees with Nick and Vicky working together. He tells her he’s the new COO of Newman Enterprises and they embrace. She knows their father will be thrilled.
At home, Billy starts his podcast about the power monger.
He says he’s able to reveal the true story of Ashland Locke. He first reveals that Locke is not dying from cancer. He has never had it. He calls it a scam.
Back at Newman Enterprises, Nick tells Victor he’s back. Victoria calls for a toast. She has sparkling cider and champagne chilling. Nikki asks if Victori will ask Adam to join them.
Victor reveals that Adam doesn’t want a part of Newman. Victoria offers to talk to him but Victor refuses. They drink to their new COO.
Sally finds Adam alone at the bar at Society. She learns how it went with Victor. She’s sorry. She asks if she should quit in solidarity. He doesn’t want that for her. Sally thinks Nick and Victoria will get rid of her anyway.
Adam thinks he should have stayed to protect her but he couldn’t take it anymore. She understands and supports him. “I’ll land on my feet like I always do.” Adam warns her about what’s coming.
She knows Locke will launch an attack and get Adam on board. He tells her to watch her back.
Things are about to get ugly.
Diane and Michael have drinks at Crimson Lights. She talks about bringing her grandson home from the park when he called. Michael asks if she’s seeing him unsupervised. Diane’s offended.
Michael wasn’t insulting her. He lets her know that rumor has it that Locke’s going to return to GC and Michael assumes he’ll try to see Harrison.
Diane says if it did happen, she would tell him he was being inappropriate and take the kid home.
“Oh no. That’s exactly what I don’t want you to do,” Michael says. They want to catch him violating his restraining order. Diane calls it unconscionable to use his love for his child against him.
She refuses and then admits he already tried to see Harrison. Today in the park. She tells Michael everything.
Ashland arrives at his hotel suite, angry. Stannis sends him The Grinning Soul podcast about him.
