This is the Canadian Y&R day ahead recap from the Friday, May 14, 2021 episode, which airs in the USA Monday, May 17. In the previous episode, Tara crashed Summer and Kyle’s party and in today’s episode, Tara explains why she’s in Genoa City, while Chloe rants to Adam and Michael tries to get Chelsea to talk.
At Society. Tara says Sally told her that he and Summer were having a party there. She didn’t have anywhere else to go. She introduces Harrison and Kyle stares at him. Meanwhile, Jack tries to keep the guests busy. Tara’s staying at Grand Phoenix and he agrees to meet her there. She apologizes and goes. Mariah appears and asks if Kyle’s okay, realizing who Harrison is. He pretends he’s over the moon and goes back to his bride-to-be. Jack asks what’s up and Kyle makes light of it. Summer drags Kyle off to talk while Nick asks Phyllis who that woman is. Phyllis tells him she’s Ashland Locke’s wife but doesn’t know why she’s here. Nick finds it puzzling. Phyllis wants to get him off the subject by trying to ply him with more champagne. Elsewhere, Summer demands answers. Kyle has none but says she needs to talk and had nowhere to go. They return to the party and Phyllis pays Abby a compliment on the party. Abby asks what’s up with Tara coming here. Summer says they need to pause the party to handle a personal issue. They’ll be back in a half-hour. Everyone looks to each other, wondering what the heck is going on. Nick needs someone to explain this. Phyllis thinks it’s business but Nick reminds her Summer called it personal. Phyllis babbles about a theory she has but in the end, asks him to let them figure it out. Near the bar, Mariah asks Jack questions and he says the same thing Phyllis does and tries to get everyone back in the party mood. Instead of partying, Mariah and Jack tell Abby she can control the thermostat and eat crackers in bed because Chance is gone. Abby claims she’s just fine and laughs and says Chance sent her presents and misses her. She feels it. On the sofa, Nick grills Phyllis some more.
Chloe rings the doorbell at Adam’s and he tells her to come in. She blasts her way in and she demands to know if he put Chelsea in a psych ward. Adam explains he didn’t. He was in the hospital when it happened. Chloe hates that he’s being treated like a hero for the one good thing he did. She is angry he’s free while her friend is locked up. “Not for lack of trying on your part,” he says. She wonders what it’ll take to stop him. Adam says he’s been beating himself up. He doesn’t need her help. Chloe reminds him of the nasty things he’s done to her. He listens. He says he deserves her scorn. Chloe rants more and says if she could block him from going near her she would. “That would be a big mistake,” he warns. He hasn’t told anyone yet but he’s pretty certain she helped Chelsea. He tells her not to get in his way. He then tells her he wants to be a better person. Chloe hopes so but asks him to stay away from Chelsea anyway. She goes and Adam takes some pills and browses his cell. He calls the psych ward to check on Chelsea and once he is on the call, he disconnects. He looks at Chelsea’s photo and says how sorry he is.

At Crimson Lights, Rey says he’s made things worse for her by threatening their marriage. Sharon knows he had his reasons. Sharon tells him she didn’t sleep with Adam no matter what Chelsea says. She was shocked and hurt that he asked. He thinks that her being locked into her stroke made her conjure up images of Adam cheating when he was just doing his best to stand by her. Sharon mentioned that theory to her. Rey knows and he let his resentment and jealousy take over. He accused her of being obsessed with Adam, but it was me. I let him get inside my head. Rey’s sorry. He asks if he’s screwed up things forever. She says no. She’s overwhelmed. Rey feels awful for believing she could have cheated. Sharon calls him the kindest and the most understanding man she’s met but he’s also human and a victim in this. Chelsea poisoned your body and Adam poisoned your mind. Sharon asks for his forgiveness too. For not enforcing her boundaries with Adam and giving Rey mixed signals. They hold hands.

In her room, Tara tells Kyle that Harrison is in his own room with a nanny. She gives Summer the boot while they talk and Summer heads downstairs and finds Sally who taunts her about Tara showing up and during their engagement party. Upstairs, Tara tells Kyle that Ashland started fresh by asking for her honesty. He expected she was unfaithful with Kyle in particular. He claimed to have forgiven her in advance. But he lied. He was cold and vindictive and kicked her out. He wants a divorce. She came to the one person who could help her and Harrison. She claims he knows powerful people and will do anything to protect her son from “that bitter, vengeful man.” She asks him to hide them. Downstairs, Summer blames Sally for trying to ruin their party. Sally didn’t bring Tara here. She said she needed to find Kyle and Sally told her where he was. She says, “Once a cheater, always a cheater.” Summer slaps her across the face. Sally says, “Truth hurts, huh?”
Michael meets Mr. Montgomery in Chelsea’s room at the psych ward. She acts as though she’s subdued and barely talks. He needs a formal statement. Chelsea rocks back and forth and claims it won’t matter. She’ll be trapped there forever. She gets all excited and says she needs someone by her side. Michael says her lawyer Montgomery and him are both on her side. They’ll ensure justice is done and fair. When she won’t talk, he asks her to put her thoughts on paper. It may make it easier. HE goes and Montgomery gives Chelsea a nod. She thinks that she’s alone and has lost everyone and everything. She blames Sharon.

Sharon and Rey arrive home and Nikki takes off. Rey missed home. She tells him it’s where he belongs. “There’s no one else I want, Rey.”

Kyle tells Summer he needs to protect his son. The only way he knows how is to come clean publicly and claiming paternity.
Lily tells Billy she knew they decided to move in together but didn’t know they’d decided to look at places so soon. Billy thought, “Why wait?”
Kevin asks Chloe, “Did you help Chelsea poison Rey and frame Adam?”
Ashland sits with Victoria and tells her she drives a hard bargain. She tells him he has no idea.
