In this episode of CBS’ The Young and the Restless, Nick has a hard time keeping this secret from Victoria, while Victor assures Nikki he will show Ash no mercy, meanwhile, Phyllis comforts Jack as he reads about his son. In the previous episode, Ashland faked an attack just before he was to sign the co-CEO papers.

Ashland pays his bill at Society when Nate rushes up to see how he is. Ashland tightly says he’s fine. Nate says he’s leaning toward saying yes to his proposal. Ashland is glad and starts to walk away when Nate asks what’s up. Ashland apologizes.
He’s enthusiastic about him considering this. His mood has nothing to do with him but he’s late for an appointment. He suggests dinner later. Nate thinks his friend looks and sounds unwell but Ash is fine.
He pauses and admits he’s not feeling 100%. The old fatigue and shortness of breath are back. It’s making him nervous. He lies that it’s happening a few times a month. It’s manageable.
Maybe it’s a bug, he considers. Nate says he needs tests run. Ashland lies that he’s on his way to get tests done now. Nate offers to come for support but Ashland refuses.
Outside her office, Victoria can tell Nick’s keeping something from her. She knows he’s concerned about her and says he’s never lied to her before. Why now?
He says nothing and she storms into her office. Nick asks her if this is necessary. Victoria tells her mom, dad and brother that they’re conspiring behind her back. Victor says she knows what’s going on. It’s about the co-CEO signing. Victoria knows about that but asks what they’re keeping from her.
They maintain that they don’t want Ashland as co-CEO. Victor reminds her he just took off home sick. Victoria doesn’t believe any of them but ends the conversation so she can go home to check on her husband. She stomps off, telling them to stay out of her business and to leave her and Ashland alone.
Nikki wonders if there’s other information about Ashland that they don’t have but Nick agrees with his dad. The man is simply lying. Victor says he refuses to tell Victoria any of this unless they are out of options.
Nick voices his disagreement with this. He has to ensure this guy gets everything he deserves. Victor plans on making sure. Nick takes off in a huff. Nikki thinks their son has reason to worry.
Ashland didn’t even blink when Victor threatened him. He’s trapped in a corner and that’s when men like him are most dangerous. He’s desperate. She worries that her husband has less of a handle on the situation than he thinks. Victor will show him no mercy if he tries anything.

In Los Angeles, Jack’s nervous as he knocks on Keemo’s door and calls out, “Hello?” Nobody responds and Phyllis notices the door is unlocked. The person who sent him those texts wanted him to come there and let himself in.
She claims it isn’t trespassing since it’s his son’s house. There’s no next of kin. Jack sighs. He disagrees but it’s too late. Phyllis opens the door. It looks as though someone was packing up.
Boxes are littered through the room and sheets cover the furniture. Jack feels like Keemo wouldn’t have wanted him there. They look around and she thinks this is a way to reconnect with his son. He’s not so sure.
She tells him they won’t leave without knowing who called him here. They give themselves a self-guided tour. Jack imagines how Keemo must have lived here. He opens a box and sees letters address to himself with this address as the return address.
None have stamps on them. “These were letters to me that he never sent.” Phyllis thinks it was left for him. She offers to give him space but he doesn’t want to be alone. He’s overcome with emotion as he opens the first letter.
He used his real name, Keemo, not Hau. He seemed to be working through his issues with Jack in them. He talks about trying to forgive his dad but was not able to find peace. Jack admits he feels a little better that his son was conflicted.
Keemo was sorry for the angry emails he sent. He reads more and says Keemo finally found peace and changed his name to Hau Nguyen to honor his mother’s memory.
He’s now free from the conflict of being Jack Abbott’s son. Jack cries as he reads, “I’m on a new path.” Phyllis calls him a wonderful man and incredible father. Jack reads that he forgave Jack but couldn’t have a relationship with him. “Forgive me, your son, Keemo.”
Jack weeps, glad his son found forgiveness. These were written in within the last twelve months. He wonders if his son had a health condition. Phyllis vows to get the answers. She finds a photo of Keemo with two women and a young girl. From Vietnam 2012.
From Crimson Lights, Victoria texts Ashland to see where he is. He ignores her text and she calls and leaves a message that she’s worried. Sharon eavesdrops from nearby.
Sharon gets her coffee and asks if she’s alright. Victoria shares that she’s concerned since he seems ill. Sharon will tell him to go home and rest if she sees him. Victoria’s grateful.
Nick interrupts to talk. Victoria reluctantly agrees. He doesn’t want to get caught up in the middle. He hates that their relationship hasn’t been the same since her wedding and he asks her to meet him halfway.
She doesn’t want to lose the progress they’ve made but finds it hard to see him on her side. He promises he is. She just wants her family to respect her relationship with Ashland.
He walks in and says he got her message that she was there. He tells Nick he wants him to see how much he loves his sister. Sharon interrupts to steal Nick away to talk about the kids. She hands him a coffee and takes him outside.
She tells him that she wanted to get him away from Ashland. He was a split second of doing something he’d regret. “You can’t go back in there,” she says. He tells her what’s happening and thanks her for being there for him.
Inside, Ashland gets a text from someone that reads, “Found another doctor who gave info to Baldwin. Took care of all three of them.” He reads and she asks if he signed the co-CEO contract yet. He hasn’t. He tells her there’s something he needs to tell her about her father.
Nate finds Victor and Nikki at Society. He admits he may work for Newman/Locke. This surprises Nikki. She thinks Memorial’s loss is her gain. Nate says he has to hash things out with Ashland. He saw him earlier.
Victor glances at Nikki. “Oh.” She asks how he seemed. Victor admits last they saw him, he had a hard time breathing. Nate can’t discuss that. He goes and Nikki still holds out that Ashland was being honest. She’s struggling.
Victor says that the man deceived their daughter in the most profound way. She counters that maybe the doctors lied in Peru. Victor pooh poohs that idea. It’s Michael, we’re talking about.
