In this episode of CBS’ The Young and the Restless, Adam has a run-in with Ashland, Sally runs into Jack in the park, and Chelsea offers herself to Billy in a work capacity. In the previous episode, Chelsea ended her partnership with Chloe, and Ashland started planing his revenge.

At Society, Stannis texts Ashland after eavesdropping on the conversation between Billy and Adam.
Sally stops running in the park when Chloe texts her about the job. Sally almost texts back that it’s all up in the air right now when she decides against it. Jack stops her. He heard about her and Adam.
She worries he’ll trash Adam’s name but he has nothing but good to say about the man.
She tells him about the mess at Newman with Victoria’s return. She calls it unfair and Jack tells her Victor has a long history of manipulating family.
She’s worried for them both.
She talks about how Adam’s constantly mistreated by his family.
She says she’s done all she could to establish herself credibly. Jack thinks it’s worked.
She agrees it’s paid off. She talks about wanting to help Adam and Jack notes he can hear the love in her voice. Jack calls him unpredictable and overreacts dangerously when he’s cornered. “He rarely considers collateral damage.”
At Crimson Lights, Nick tells Sharon all about Victoria’s scheme against Ashland. She’s stunned and then when he reveals she took over her job at Newman again, Sharon asks where that leaves Adam.
He assumes Victoria wants him to work there but Adam stormed out before he was asked. Sharon’s incredulous. They both understand why Adam was upset. It’s no fun being a chess piece in his dad’s schemes.
Nick admits he was asked to return to Newman.
Sharon jumps up and tells him they’re going to figure it out together.
Outside, Adam takes a seat and Ashland spots him. He texts Stannis to thank him for the tip that he’s at the coffee shop and greets him. Adam’s annoyed and thinks he has a nerve showing up there. Ashland laughs.
He talks about how Victoria tricked him into thinking they were reunited and then stole his money.
He calls it a stroke of genius on her part. Adam says it isn’t like Ashland didn’t have it coming.
Ashland reminds him that his sister played them both and they did exactly what she wanted. Adam nods. Ashland claims he returned to get his things from her house.
Adam thinks she got rid of it all and had a bonfire. He laughs. Ashland thinks he’s in the same place.
Jobless, now that Victoria’s back. Adam’s grin falters and his anger is visible. He asks if he’s there to try to get back with Victoria. “Surely, you can’t be a glutton for punishment.”
Ashland turns the talk back to Adam being stung and lied to.
“At least I didn’t get fleeced.” Ashland says no, he took away his son’s power and respect. Adam asks why he’s really back. Is he out for revenge? Ashland says they both want the same thing. He goes.
At Newman, Victoria and Nikki are glad that her portrait is back on the wall. She hopes Nikki will resume her role as co-CEO. Nikki says she will. They discuss the possibility of Nicholas returning to the fold.
Vicky wants unquestionable loyalty but won’t push her brother to take the job. They imagine what can be accomplished. Nikki reminds her of the wild card who could blow everything up.
Vicky says Adam could be CEO of Newman Media again. Nikki thinks he’ll just be disgruntled and will try to undermine her. Victoria shrugs. She calls him a menace but nothing to lose sleep over.

Back at Society, Billy meets Chelsea and asks how things are going. Chelsea realized her friendship was more important than anything. She admits she took a step back from work. She credits Billy. She’s been saying yes to everything out of fear of letting anyone down.
He gets it. He’s been there. Chelsea asks to repay him. He remembers how she trashed his “downer” podcast and he’s a little apprehensive.
She thinks he needs someone like her to push the podcast along, creatively. “Set the tone, be a sounding board.”
He lets her know he works alone. Chelsea thinks that’s part of the problem. He harrumphs and she apologizes.
She talks herself up. He admits his audience is plateauing. Maybe he could use help. “Cool.” Vicky arrives and they break apart. Chelsea goes home, welcoming Victoria on her way. Billy and Victoria recap what she did to Ashland.
She has a favor for her ex. She wants Billy to out Ashland on his podcast as someone who lied about having cancer.
Billy’s shocked.
Nick and Sharon sit at the park and discuss the pros and cons about parenting with working at Newman again. Sharon recalls him being able to balance in the past when they had young kids. He likes what he does with New Hope and talks about the chaos at Newman.
Sharon thinks he’ll be able to manage the family in-fighting. Protecting the family will be fulfilling in another way. Noah will be able to step in at New Hope and fill in the gaps.
Nick likes that thought. As they talk, Nick can tell that Sharon is pushing him toward Newman. She smiles. She thinks this time around, he could add sanity to the chaos. It could be the most fulfilling thing he’s ever done.
He tells her it sounds amazing. She can tell he’s going back.
Sally finds Adam at Newman Media alone. He apologizes for not returning her calls. She says it’s fine. He tells her about his run-in with Billy and how he rubbed his nose in his sister’s return.
He reveals he ran into Ashland as well, who is back to pick up his belongings. Of course, Adam thinks he has less benign intentions. He assumes Ashland wants to take revenge.
If Vicky finds herself under attack, she could make costly mistakes he could capitalize on.
Sally thought the goal was to create an opining to get back to Newman. Adam says the days of him trying to prove to his father he’s worthy are over. His dad insulted and used him over and over and his sister likes it.
He’s done trying. He wants his sister to crash and burn along with his father.
Nikki finds Jack at Crimson Lights. She yammers about Diane’s return, but admits she has more important things on her mind, like her family. Jack heard Victoria’s back.
They’ll all put that whole nightmare behind them. Nikki hopes so.
Ashland arrives back at his hotel room and slams the door in anger before he clutches at his head.

Nick informs Victoria that he’s ready to rejoin the team. Victoria’s thrilled.
Amanda’s irate with her sister Imani and asks her if they’re back to this again, back to trying to get into Nate’s pants while he’s living with Elena.
Ashland tears apart his hotel room.
