After Adam Confesses Plans to Sally, He Pitches His Coverup Story and She Races to Tattle to Victoria, While Billy Tells Lily Chelsea Kissed Him

In this episode of CBS’ The Young and the Restless, Victor and Nick worry about Victoria’s direction, Devon shoots down Nate’s ideas again, and Adam gives Chance the opportunity to do the right thing.

In the previous episode, Adam hacked into the police report and called Chance for a meeting, and Chelsea kissed Billy.

In her office, Victor tells his daughter how good it is to see her back in her element. She assures him she is back on her game and focused on moving forward.

He says that her video call was very impressive, but he thinks she should be careful with her acquisition plans. She says they are all good business.

Her father hopes she will consult with him. She leaves to talk to marketing as Nick arrives. Victor asks what he thinks of his sister’s demeanor.

CBS

They chat about her being a bit overzealous in trying to remove all stains of Ashland. “Ayayayayay,” Victor growls, complaining his daughter’s taste in men has always been her Achilles’ heel.

He hopes she will improve herself.

Chance meets with Adam in the park and tells him that the Locke investigation is closed. He won’t readdress it.

CBS

Adam bluntly confronts him about the evidence that he is uncovered. It would be too bad if he had to reveal that the detective covered up a crime as a favor to his father-in-law.

The Newman asks about leads and evidence that were dropped. He’s sure the cop wasn’t bought off.

Chance refuses to be intimidated and says he has no regrets about his decision. Adam suggests he’s lost his way. The cop warns him he’s heading down a dangerous path.

It’s disappointing for him to see Adam fall back into old patterns, alienating his family and looking for revenge.

Adam insists his father deserves to be punished. He thought Chance believed in the truth.

Nate and Devon awkwardly arrive in Lily’s office. The former doctor wants to discuss something but thinks they should wait for Billy. Lily informs them he’s recording his last podcast.

CBS

After they mourn the end of that era, Nate talks about all the research he’s done on them holding their own music festival.

Devon fidgets and then says it’s too risky and would take up a lot of capital.

Lily thinks it’s an interesting idea, but Devon insists this is not the time. Nate suggests he’s being too conservative. He leaves for another meeting. Devon shakes his head.

He insists this has nothing to do with his feelings toward Nate. She points out he hasn’t looked at the data. He agrees to do that but wants to keep the company stable.

In the podcast studio, Billy manages to pull his lips away from Chelsea. He’s sorry if he gave her the wrong impression, but that kiss was a mistake.

CBS

He wonders if they should talk about this, but she’s frazzled and leaps into recording.

She says the episode is all about goodbyes and what you can learn from them. They’ve parted ways before. He suggests they not get into that.

She points out they used to be an item. Billy says that was years ago. After some more discomfort, he claims this was an amazing experience and thanks the listeners before saying his goodbye.

Once they stop recording, they agree that was great. She asks that he never bring up what happened again. He’s not sure it’s the best way to handle it but she insists it is.

Chelsea tells him doing the podcast herself won’t work. He says they have lots of people who can work with her, but she doesn’t think it would be the same.

Billy goes to Lily’s office. She asks if the audience will shed any tears when they realize he’s parted ways with Chelsea.

CBS

He explains that the wires got crossed and Chelsea kissed him. He set her straight immediately and just thinks she’s lonely. “Uh huh?” Lily asks, wondering if she should be concerned.

CBS

He says what happened only reinforces his choice to end the podcast. He hopes she can see this is no big deal and promises he is now her full-time CEO.

She fills him in on the meeting about the music festival. Ultimately, she thinks it’s a good idea and they should do it.

Chloe finds Chelsea moping at Crimson Lights. She checks on her. Chelsea doesn’t want to get into it. She messed up and feels stupid. Her friend is sorry things haven’t been great between them but will give her whatever support she can.

Lately, Chelsea has felt like she can’t catch a break. There’s nothing anyone can do to help.

Adam stops by Sally’s office. She wonders if she should call security but he’s there to apologize. Closing the door, he apologizes for being “indirect.”

CBS

She accuses him of being manipulative. He takes responsibility for what happened between them and hopes they can be less hostile. They understand each other, regardless of what words they say.

He still feels like she’s the one person he can open up to. Sally says he can talk to her if he needs to get something off his chest.

Sitting down, he explains that he stumbled on the police report. Chance squashed evidence that should come to light. Sally was hoping for something else.

He points out this is a gold mine of a story and could make her career. All she has to do is reveal his dad’s coverup. She thinks that would be the end of her career at Newman Media.

He fills her in on Nick killing Locke and Victor covering it up. She’s skeptical. It sounds like self-defense. Adam doesn’t think his siblings had anything to do with the coverup.

“This is insane,” Sally says. He thinks another company would snap her up after this. She points out this will also show Chance was complicit in corruption. Is he willing to throw him under the bus like he did her?

Adam says he didn’t toss her aside, he protected her. He wanted to protect her job and protect her from the war he’s about to start. “So you finally admit the truth!” Sally snaps.

He never wanted to hurt her. She accuses him of not being able to trust her or respect her priorities. She’s not going to thank him for thinking he knows what’s best for her.

Sally wanted to believe that what they had was special. He says it was. Part of her thought they could come back from this but now she sees she needs to give up. Vengeance will always come first for him.

Nothing he can say now matters. She can see and understand him. His only goal is revenge. That will be his downfall but it’s on him.

She’s not about to make any deals about this story. “I do what I want now,” she says, storming out.

Sally heads down to Victoria’s office. After assuring her that she’s not getting back with Adam, she explains he claims to have evidence that wouldn’t show the Newmans in a favorable light.

CBS

Victoria shuts the door. She expected this sooner or later. It seems like her brother is being careless.

The boss thanks her for the heads up and warns her that Adam is dangerous. Sally says she turned down his proposition to publish the story. If Sally didn’t totally shoot it down, Victoria suggests this might be useful.

Nick runs into Chance on the patio of Crimson Lights. The cop tells him he’d hoped they could all move on, but someone got their hands on all the evidence.

Nate was looking forward to the second act in his life, but it’s been nothing but frustration. She suggests he should walk away. He appreciates her listening to him vent but he’s not ready to leave.

She suggests he could return to medicine. He doesn’t think that door can be re-opened. Things are rocky but he’s not walking away.

Nick and Victor corner Adam at Society. Crossing their arms, they tell him they know he’s come across some information. What does he want? He must know he’s not getting the CEO job back.

Victor accuses him of playing the victim while making threats. He took a risk protecting his siblings just as he took a risk protecting him.

Adam points out he didn’t save him, he ruined him.

Adam asks Nick how he’s coming to terms with all this. He’s sure that his feelings about killing a man are not fading away. All his own guilt always comes flooding back. It will haunt him for the rest of his life, just as it will for Nick.

He tells his father he just wants to see justice finally served to him.

Waving his finger, Victor warns him not to play this dangerous game. Adam walks out.

Adam goes to the park. Chelsea arrives.
