Soaps Spoilers has the Canadian Y&R day ahead recap for Tuesday, November 9, 2021 episode, which airs in the USA Wednesday, November 10. (Recaps live by 5:45 PM EST daily.) In the previous episode, Mariah offered to care for Dominic if Abby went to Spain, but was turned down flat. In this episode of CBS’ The Young and the Restless, Amanda and Michael flashed back to today’s trial, Devon was supportive of Amanda, Sally and Red got into an argument, and Chloe got between them.
Phyllis thanks Jack for pulling her out of her funk. He’s always there for her. She knows. She kisses his cheek as Sally and Chloe walk up. He toddles off to work out and Sally looks affronted.
Later, Chloe gets Sally’s attention. She’s been talking and Sally hasn’t heard a thing. Sally admits she’s miffed seeing Phyllis with Jack. Chloe asks if she’s harboring hope that they’ll reunite. Sally has zero hope and interest in rekindling anything. It irks her that Phyllis hurt Jack worse than she has and he’s still pining after her. She thinks he wants to “steal her from Nick.” Chloe shrugs. They’ve been close friends over the years. Forgiveness is earned and takes time, Chloe tells Sally. Sally just thinks it’s a double standard. She wishes she could expose Phyllis. Phyllis walks up and tells Sally to take her best shot. Chloe gets between them and asks them to dial it down. Phyllis tells Chloe she’s at a 1. She tells Sally she’s the real deal, who owns up to her own mistakes, while all Sally does is hide her head in the sand when she does something restrictive. Sally asks how comfortable Nick is with her friendship with Jack. Phyllis almost goes at her but refuses to dignify it with an answer. “Seems like I hit a nerve.” She wonders if Nick would like to know “about a little scene I witnessed in Tuscany.” Phyllis looks confused and remains silent. “Yeah,” Sally says. “That’s what I thought.” Phyllis calls her s0-called bomb a dud and asks Chloe to take her “little friend out of here.” Chloe takes Sally and goes as Jack turns up. He asks what happened and she tells him not to ask. She finally admits she let Sally get under her skin. She asks if they were in a situation that would appear to someone else as untoward. He recalls sitting in her room talking. That’s all. Phyllis admits Sally said something that got her thinking. Jack tells her not to let Sally get to her.
At Devon’s, Michael and Amanda are finished with court for the day. They drink beer and she takes a call from Devon. She explains the trial is over for today. He’s sorry he couldn’t be in court for her. She gets his need to be there for Abby and Dominic. He asks how her testimony went. She’s not sure. She’s still processing so they agree to discuss it later. They disconnect. Amanda asks Michael if Sutton’s closer to being convicted. He calls her poised, eloquent, and in control. She says on the inside, it was tearing her up. Michael assures her she pulled it off. They flashback to her discussing being one of his lawyers and why she turned against him. She explained that she had reason to believe he had her father killed. She explained her father’s brakes were tampered with when he was searching for her and her sister. They were put up for adoption at birth in part due to Mr. Ames. Sutton saw her dad as a potential threat to his reputation and political career that needed to be eliminated. Amanda was able to tell Michael that her grandfather tried to record her and use their conversation against her. She talked about wanting justice for her father. Michael thought her words meant a difference to the jury.
Nick arrives at Abby’s with pastries. Devon answers the door and when Nick asks what’s up, Devon says they just convinced Abby not to go to Spain to look for Chance’s body. Devon says she fell apart. The reality of not being able to see her husband again set in and she’s devastated. She’ll need their love and sport. Nick nods. They’ll ensure she gets what she needs. Abby comes downstairs and hugs Nick. He’s so sorry and offers to help in whatever she needs. Devon takes off. Abby’s sorry she didn’t tell him herself. He only cares about her. She asks how he’s doing. He’s fine. Kids are good. She notices he left out the two weddings he went to in Italy. She asks about the ceremonies. “I am still able to be happy for other people,” she says. He tells her Summer and Kyle’s wedding was small and romantic. Summer was so focused on Kyle, she forgot her bouquet and had to run back and get it. He calls it cute and kind of perfect. Abby hopes they have a long and happy life together. Nick tells her that Victoria’s wedding was a five-star event. He asks to take her and the baby for a walk.

After Michael is gone, Devon returns home and hugs Amanda. She tells him about the trial being a success. He’s supportive. She calls it an emotionally draining time. She flashes back to Michael asking if she takes pleasure testifying against her grandfather. Amanda felt she had no choice. Sutton puts himself above everyone else including the law. She explained that he demanded that his own grandkids be sent away because they were an embarrassment to him. He had his grandkids’ father killed because he didn’t want that secret to come out.
Then, when he realized the walls were closing in, he had his own daughter take the fall for him. She talked about growing up alone and finding a family when she grew up, and that she’s developed a relationship with her sister and mother. Not Sutton, since he only cares about himself. Devon hopes she’s done. She says she won’t go back until the verdict is read. Imani feels the same. Naya stayed away but Amanda’s glad. It’d have been too hard on her. She asks how Abby’s doing. Devon says she’s not good at all. He thinks things will get worse. Amanda thinks she’s lucky to have him and others who care about her. Devon sees a lot of red flags. He knows she’ll get through it but doesn’t know how long it’ll take. He admits he doesn’t think the mansion is the best place for Dominic. He’s clearly affected by the stress in the house. His schedule is off, he’s crying all the time. He thinks the baby should be taken from the house but doesn’t know how Abby would react to that. Amanda cringes hard, knowing that’d be a hard conversation. Devon thinks it’d be best to take Dominic until things are better. “How can I help?” She asks. He tells her to keep doing what she’s doing. Be there for him. Later, they seem to have come down the stairs. He wishes they could spend all day in bed. He asks her opinion on Abby and the kid. She thinks it’s a delicate situation and he should keep listening to Abby. He needs someone who cares for Dominic’s needs too and tells him to follow his heart. He professes his love. They kiss and he goes. Phyllis texts. She needs a friend.
At the park, Abby tells Nick that Chance proposed to her there. He thinks they should go somewhere else but she needs to be close to these memories. She tears up and talks about the proposal and children and how he promised to love her forever. The baby starts crying and Nick looks at Abby. She’s drifted off in thought. He calls her name and she’s out of it. He calls her name again and she asks, “What?” He tells her the baby’s crying. When she doesn’t make a move, he picks the kid up and hugs him.
At Crimson Lights, Chloe tells Michael she’s on her apology tour for Lauren and wants to bring a pie for their dinner. Michael thinks it’ll help. He kisses her cheek and goes, leaving Sally flummoxed as to why nobody forgives her. Chloe’s tired of her being whiny and tells her it’s enough. Chloe explains she’s family and advises her to focus on the good things in her life and what she stands to lose if she doen’st. She tells her to stop blaming others for what she has done. Sally hears her. “You’re right,” she says.
At Society, Jack sits alone and flashes to telling Phyllis he loves her. He flashes to her telling him she loves him as a friend and then he flashes to snuggling with her on her bed in Tuscany. He considers calling Phyllis.
Amanda and Phyllis get together at the Grand Phoenix. Phyllis asks about court and Amanda briefs her on how it went. Talk turns to Phyllis going to Jack for advice about Nick and how she thinks it’s hurt things with Nick, who made accusations about their relationship. Amanda asks if there was more going on. “Yeah, but not in the way you think,” Phyllis admits. There was a barrier between her and Nick and she was able to open up to Jack more. Amanda thinks it’s normal. It’s easier to open up to a friend as opposed to a lover. You’ve less fear of judgment or fear of upsetting them. Phyllis nods. She calls Jack a good man. Amanda asks what happened between the three of them. Phyllis explains she was with Jack and cheated on him with Nick. “Listen, I’m not a saint,” she says. Then she got pregnant with Summer and didn’t know whose kid she was. “Wow,” Amanda says. She has a new perspective. She thinks she has a deep connection with Jack. “Have you considered the possibility that Jack is more than a friend to you? Maybe you’ve never gotten over him.”
Nick and Abby return home with the baby. While Abby takes the kid for a diaper change, Devon asks how she is. Nick knows he’s concerned and he is too. She’s not herself. She was so preoccupied talking about chance that she didn’t hear Dominic crying. Devon looks worried.
