In this episode of CBS’ The Young and the Restless, Jack is surprised by Ashley’s advice, Diane needles Phyllis and Nikki until they make a pact with Ashley, and Allie gives Noah more advice. In the previous episode, Ashland was arrested and threatened by Victor, and Sally was irritated by Adam disappearing.

In Victoria’s office, she asks for Nick and Nikki’s advice on what to do with Sally. He points out that Spectra has no relevant experience, plus Adam pulls her strings.
When he says they are breaking up, Nikki suggests that’s likely fake.
She leaves them to let Sally know her services are no longer required.
Adam shows up at Sally’s office. He explains that he didn’t go to Chicago. He went over the whole mind game his father has been playing and needed some time alone.
She doesn’t think he should beat himself up for trusting his father.
Trusting Victor has been a huge mistake and has undermined his faith in himself. He’s realized that she is the reason he’s on the outside.
She’s standing between him and everything he wants.
She can understand he is furious and looking for someone to blame, but blaming her makes no sense when she’s the one who has stood behind him.
Adam points out she sabotaged Victoria and nearly the company. Being involved with her has become a huge liability.
Sally insists that Victor has come to respect her. Adam points out that has cost him his father’s respect. She can’t understand why he is being cruel and crazy.
“The really crazy thing is making the choice to be with you at all,” he says.
Almost choking up, Adam claims he deluded himself into think he could win Victor’s approval but he should have known that staying with her made that impossible.
He reminds her that Billy told her all about him so this shouldn’t be a surprise.
Sally says he’s loved her in ways impossible to fake. He claims he hasn’t loved her enough. She guesses that he is distancing himself from her so she can keep her job. If so, she doesn’t want it.
He means more to her than that. If he drops this now, she will forgive him.
Adam makes it clear they have no future.
He’s telling her he doesn’t want her in his life anymore. He needs to regain his self-respect and earn his father’s. “I hate what being with you has cost me and turned me into,” he says.
He needs to get back to being the kind of man who takes what he wants. Whatever glee he got from rubbing her in everyone’s face wasn’t worth it.
Everyone was right about you,” she decides, calling him a “self-serving bastard.”
Once she tells him to go to hell, he walks out, rubs his eyes, and sighs. Victoria and Nick pop up and he informs them that he’s out of Sally’s life.
He says the worst thing she ever did was get involved with him. She’s a hard worker and if they give her a chance they’ll see that.
The siblings look at each other. They enter Sally’s office, where she is wiping away her tears.
She guesses they are there to tell her it’s not working. She tells them that she has been working night and day studying the company and building connections that matter.
Sally gives them her pitch on why they should keep her there and tells them this has been one of the greatest opportunities of her life. She will miss the view from the office.
If they can just get this over with, they can go on with their days.
Nick asks to speak to his sister alone. In the hall, he tells Victoria that he’s impressed by Sally and her vision for the company is exactly what they are looking for.
At Society, Ashley tells Jack that Allie bowled over everyone at the lab. She is smart and intuitive just like her father.
This is all a dream come true for Jack but she sinks or swims on her own merits.
She’s sure it will work out and asks how he’s doing. He doesn’t want to talk about his love life, which leads his sister to assume that “Phyllis pulled a Phyllis.”
Reluctantly, he explains how Phyllis manipulated him to send Diane a message.
His sister doesn’t see how Phyllis couldn’t have been making a point to her enemy and genuinely showing her affection for him.
He’s shocked that she’s suggesting he forgive Phyllis. She won’t defend Phyllis, but she could see he was falling back in love with her and that made her happy. He won’t deny it.
Ashley thinks she deserves a second chance given that she is fighting Diane.
She asks what set Phyllis off in the first place. He’s clearly forging a path to forgive Diane and suggests he has more complicated feelings for her than he is willing to admit.
He insists that what’s happening with Red has nothing to do with Diane. His sister doesn’t think he can be that dumb. Jack claims he’s just trying to be fair.
Ashley is sure Phyllis is going crazy having to stifle her animosity toward the other woman.
She tells him not to buy Diane’s act. He is adamant that he is better off being friends with Phyllis and he can’t go through her troubles again.
When he spots Adam, he decides he needs to talk to him. His sister remarks that he befriends every pariah in town and is forgiving to everyone other than Phyllis.
Jack heads to the bar. Adam doesn’t want company. Jack recognizes the look on his face. He asks him about the press conference and what’s happening at the company.
Adam tells him he understand how he was at war with Victor for so many years.
There is only so much you can be pushed before you push back. This time there is no going back for him. Jack encourages him not to give into his worst impulses.
Adam says that he’s the last person his father needs to worry about.
Ashland glumly sits and stares in his cell.

Allie and Noah drop by Crimson Lights for coffee. He thanks her for listening to him go on about resigning from New Hope.
She reminds him of the worst things that could happen. He’d appreciate ways to think about this that won’t make him feel like a jerk for letting down his father.
She points out there’s no way it will be an easy conversation.
Noah teases her about spilling this to Tessa and Mariah and suggests she’s nervous around him. She apologizes but it’s okay with him. Phyllis wanders over and tells them they are adorable together.
They chat about Allie’s internship and Phyllis reminds her she used to be CEO at Jabot.
She offers to sit down and discuss the company with her but Noah makes an excuse and they abruptly exit.
Diane swans over and comments on how Phyllis can clear a room. They begin bickering. Diane suggests that Allie is onto her, and accuses her of trying to use her to get to Jack.
Phyllis refuses to let her provoke her. They poke each other about their peace treaty. Diane accuses her again of trying to use Jack’s grandchild.
She gloats about rebuilding her relationship with Kyle. She’s looking forward to working with their children.
When Diane claims she doesn’t want things to be adversarial between them, Phyllis refuses to buy her miraculous transformation. Nikki arrives as Diane claims she will be a permanent fixture.
Nikki and Phyllis are glad to see her becoming so confident because it means she will let her guard down.
Ashley joins them in the pile on “DiDi.” She says they are a hoot but she has a life to get back to and walks off.
Nikki says something has to be done about that woman. They all agree on that. Phyllis can’t understand why Diane is getting a do-over. The trio vent about Jenkins and all her crimes.
They agree to temporarily pool their talents to get rid of Diane.
Allie and Noah go to the Abbott estate. They talk about Phyllis trying to use her to get information.
He explains that Phyllis is a force of nature and doesn’t understand boundaries but has a good heart.
They get to his decision to step away from New Hope.
She reminds him that Nick is a good dad and will just want him to be happy. He thanks her for that. They kiss.
