Sharon Case Talks Shadam, and Working With Melody Thomas Scott

Sharon Case feels lucky that she’s been keeping busy on this fun and long journey on Y&R!

People often ask Sharon Case “How can you be at the same job for so long [on Young and the Restless] and not get bored?” She counters, “Well, how could one get bored with all of these stories, right? There’s a lot of work and thought that goes into trying to figure out an angle to each story and still be Sharon Newman. It’s been challenging but very rewarding,” the actress tells Soap Opera Digest.

Former model, Sharon Case, worked on General Hospital as Dawn Winthrop from 1989 to 1990. She was Debbie Simon from 1992 to 1992 on As The World Turns, before making her way to Genoa City to play Sharon Collins, a girl from “the wrong side of the tracks” who married Nicholas Newman (Joshua Morrow).  She came to the show in June 1994. Since, she has gotten into many scrapes over the decades, has conceived children, gotten divorced, had affairs, experienced kleptomania, wound up with Bipolar Disorder…the list goes on.

Case talked about her Y&R character and the biggest storyline right now which is Sharon and Adam. “You know how they say you only get one or two great loves of your life? Adam is the other love of Sharon’s life after Nick, so there’s nothing she can do about that. It’s almost like Sharon’s destiny or fate, so she’ll never be able to change her feelings about Adam.”

She went on to talk about working with Melody Thomas Scott, who was also recently interviewed. She talked about their friction. “I don’t think the friction would be as interesting if it wasn’t for the more loving moments,” she told Soap Digest. “If two people are just fighting constantly, then you wonder why they even speak to each other.” She says the “harmonious moments show how much they care for each other.” This is one of Case’s favorite relationships.
