Co-Head Writers, Chris Van Etten and Dan O’Connor break down what’s going down with all of residents of Port Charles on General Hospital this May with Soap Opera Digest.
What’s coming up on May Sweeps on GH?
Everyone may know that Harmony (Inga Cadranel) killed Neil, but that leaves some other questions unanswered.
Willow’s parents and Wiley’s future
Carly (Laura Wright) is determined to get to the truth that Harmony tried to hide and the revelations about who Willow’s (Katelyn MacMullen) biological parents are “will have massive ripple effects across the canvas.”
This couldn’t come at a more crucial time since Nina (Cynthia Watros), Willow and Michael (Chad Duell) are locked in a court battle over visitation rights for Wiley.
The battle has also driven a further wedge between Michael and his father, with Sonny (Maurice Benard) taking Nina’s side.
Will the truth push him and Nina together, or break them apart?
Cassadine complications and catastrophes
As Sonny struggles for control of his family, Laura (Genie Francis) keeps finding power over hers slipping away thanks to the Cassadines.
The Cassadines are complicating things for other people too.
Although Valentin’s (James Patrick Stuart) feelings are hardly hidden, Anna (Finola Hughes) continues to be conflicted in how she feels about him.
ANna’s doubts about Jennifer Smith’s (Holly Gagnier) role in Luke’s death aren’t likely to make it an easier.
Ava (Maura West) and Nikolas’ (Marcus Coloma) marriage continues to crumble under the pressure as Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl) escalates her plan to undermine it and gets a little push from Ryan to get results.

Esme spreads the unrest
Will Spencer’s (Nicholas Chavez) scheme to expose Esme pay off in time to halt the destruction of his father’s marriage, or at least in time to clear Trina (Tabyana Ali)?
Spencer better work fast because his extremely strained relationship with Trina can’t survive much more and her eye is already wandering.
Stuck in the middle of this, Cam (William Lipton) agreeing to keep Spencer’s scheme a secret could spell serious problems for his own relationship with Joss (Eden McCoy), which was tense enough thanks to the sex tape scandal.
Liz and the spirit realm
Finn’s (Michael Easton) scientific assurances otherwise, Liz (Rebecca Herbst) is really starting to wonder if all the strange messages she’s been receiving are from the other dimension after all.
Britt crashes
Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) has barely been keeping it together for months, especially after losing Jason.
Since throwing herself in romance proved to be a washout, the doctor is about to head into even more troubled water.
“May will culminate in a big crash for Britt that the audience will not want to miss,” the writers have claimed.
Doomed relationships
As Austin (Roger Howarth) and Maxie’s (Kirsten Storms) fledgling relationship gets complicated by money issues, Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) and Chase’s (Josh Swickard) could be doomed when a figure from the past rears their head.
Dante (Dominic Zamrogna) and Sam’s (Kelly Monaco) relationship may also be due for a major change.
By the end of the month, a whole new side of the detective and some revelations about his past will come to light.
Ashfords imploding
Even though some of the details about Marshall’s (Robert Gossett) past have been revealed, we are still a long way from the whole truth.
As Curtis (Donnell Turner) pieces the past together, this only causes more friction with his father and this spreads across the whole family.
Curtis’s life could get even more complicated since Jordan (Tanisha Harper) is finding it difficult to hide her lingering feelings for her ex, or to forget what Portia (Brook Kerr) told her a few months ago.
Boss lady
Selina (Lydia Look) continues to make inroads to become Port Charles’ major mobster. It helps that Sonny has so many family distractions.
Wild new direction
Brando (Johnny Wactor) and Sasha’s (Sofia Mattson) marriage is already off to a bumpy ride and running over Harmony has only made it harder.
Look for a “wild new direction for the family” as they cope with their compounding griefs.
Relationship meltdowns?
After a misunderstanding, Mac (John York) and Felicia (Kristina Wagner) wind up having to have a frank discussion about what their future looks like.
Terry (Cassandra James) tries to carve out a relationship with Chet (Chris Van Etten), but his sister, Amy (Risa Dorken), may make that difficult.
