SoapsSpoilers’ General Hospital recap for Thursday, December 9, 2021 episode. Today, Sonny and Selina make a deal to kill Peter, Liesl learns about what Nina has done, and Laura saves Martin from an attack. We also have Wednesday’s GH recap where Martin was strangled and Peter threatened to expose Sonny and Nina.
At General Hospital, Carly video chats with her daughter until Selina Wu interrupts her to casually pay her condolences for Jason before moving on.
Britt walks in on her mother and Scott canoodling in her hospital bed over nougat. Obrecht realizes her daughter finds public displays of affection unseemly. The lawyer tells her they are sorry about Jason. She insists that she is fine. Liesl wishes that she had made Peter into brisket when she had the chance.
Nina pokes her head in to take the blame for Peter’s rampage. Britt takes off and her mother tells Nina that her daughter lost the closest thing she had to true love. Peter robbed her of it. Nina says it’s her fault too. She and Scott fill Liesl in on the fraud charges she’s facing. Obrecht asks Scott to step out so they can have a family talk with her niece.
Nina is expecting a lecture, but her aunt is not supplying one. Nina doesn’t know how to be redeemed without suffering. Obrecht tells her she needs to start by making amends with Britt. Losing Jason may be driving her to harden her heart when she can least afford it. Liesl reminds her not to cower when she faces off against Sonny and his family. She needs to recover her strength and fight for her life.
Scott returns to Obrecht’s room and they discuss Nina’s chances in court. He doesn’t think that Sonny is happy that Michael started this. They mull over why Sonny hasn’t done anything about Nina. When he mentions he was called “Mike” in Nixon Falls, she flashes back to Nina telling her about him.
Britt is startled to walk into her office and find Selina lounging around. She introduced herself as Brad’s aunt and says the doctor’s “rather fluid commitment” to Brad is no surprise. She’d like her to stay away from him completely. This confuses Britt but Selina insists that he needs to change his character and she doesn’t want harmful influences lingering from his old life. She also doesn’t want to have this conversation again and strides out.
Down the hall, Michael approaches his mother. He gets the sense she’s avoiding going home and wonders if there is something wrong between her and Sonny. Selina comes over and asks Michael if he’s planning to attend Brad’s parole hearing. He is and is determined to keep him behind bars. That’s what she expected.
After Madam Wu has walked off, Carly urges Michael to be more tactful when speaking to Selina. He’s sure that Sonny would back him up on what he did. Carly admits she has no idea what Sonny is thinking these days. Michael tells her things will be better once Nina is in prison.
Maxie corners Sonny in the corridor and tells him she wants Peter dead. He explains that he needs to live. She reminds him that Peter took Franco and Jason from his families. Corinthos flashes back to Peter threatening to expose his relationship with Nina in Nixon Falls.
Maxie surprises Britt when she stops by her office. She sees the doctor is miserable and makes her sit down to talk about it. They chat about Liesl and Maxie brings up her reunion with Peter at the PCPD. She needed to prove he didn’t have a hold on her. That makes Britt proud of her. Before Maxie can lead her away for wine, Nina shows up and Maxie invites her to toast to a Peter-free world.

Selina meets Sonny at his office. He hands her a photo of Peter and tells her that he wants him dead. He can’t do it himself because there is public knowledge of how he feels about August. She agrees to take care of this, but warns it will cost him. He won’t pressure the board to ensure Brad’s release. She insists and claims that Brad’s attachments to his grandson have been severed.
He caves and agrees to make his man on the parole board vote for Brad’s release. She wants more of a guarantee than that. There’s only so much he can do. They shake on it and she hopes Michael forgives him for this. Before she can leave, he reminds her that if Brad comes anywhere near his grandson, there will be hell to pay.
At Wyndemere, Nikolas tries to lure Ava upstairs to the fire and the bearskin rug. She’s preoccupied with thoughts of the rat kings that remind her of his family, knotted together by their tales unless they chew their way free. She’s not happy that he’s involved with Victor. His uncle is a little too “pro-active” for her and she suspects Victor will reduce him to his pawn.
The fact that Nikolas didn’t fill her in about working with his uncle has raised alarm bells for her. If there’s something else he needs to tell her, now is the time. He explains Shawn Butler didn’t shoot Hayden. Ava knows he hired them. That surprises him. When Ava says there can be no more secrets between them, he kisses her to answer her challenge and they have sex on the floor.
As Laura runs her bath in the safe house, she can hear a commotion in the other room. A hitwoman is attempting to strangle Martin. As the FBI guard starts banging on the front door, Laura rushes out to the living room and clobbers the hitwoman with a plunger. Laura helps Martin up as he gasps.
Laura demands to know who the hitwoman is working for. She asks for a lawyer and is taken away. The mayor gets back to her brother. He’s eager to have a hot bath before they get moved to a new location. “That’s one option,” she says, sure that Cyrus won’t be able to send anyone else after them. She is determined to return to Port Charles and fight.
