General Hospital recap for Thursday, December 29, 2022. In today’s GH episode, Laura is appalled to hear Nikolas had an affair with Liz, Esme gets what she wants from Dimitrios, and Spencer and Trina wonder if Esme is actually guilty.
We also have Wednesday’s GH recap where Cyrus offered Laura his help, Esme hatched a new plan, and Britt prepared for her party.
At Wyndemere, Liz tells Nikolas she will take care of Esme. She’s not doing this for him. After she heads up to the tower, Laura barges in.
She explains that she visited Cyrus, and it got her wondering about what else she doesn’t know about her son.
What did he mean when he claimed he had betrayed everyone?
He’s not explaining. She wonders what else he did to alienate his son.
The prince claims his son is just disappointed in him. His mom drills him about his latest affair.
Liz visits Esme in the tower. Esme asks for her help getting out of there safely.
The nurse tells her she can stay in the tower or go to prison.
Esme says the third option is to help her escape from town. She swears she will take care of the baby if she’s free.
Liz doubts that since she’ll have no resources. Esme claims she wouldn’t be living in fear of being killed as soon as she gives birth.
The nurse says she’s wrong about Nikolas. After checking her over, she tells her the pregnancy is going along smoothly.
Esme repeats that she’s a prisoner, not a patient in a maternity ward. Could she live with hurting her baby?
Esme may not be mom material, but she wants her baby to have a better start in life than she had.
Liz has a plan to get her a sonogram and takes off.
Rolling over in bed, Esme smirks.
Dimitrios arrives with her dinner. As he lights the candles, she asks him to join her.
After she eats, she steals a match when his back is turned.
Once she’s alone, she looks at the match and says, “Happy New Year, Ace.”
On her way out, Liz bumps into Nikolas and Laura.
Once she’s gone, Laura begs her son to tell her he hasn’t been having an affair with the nurse.
She starts lecturing him for taking advantage of a fragile woman who is practically family.
He says they have a past and they are trying to keep it quiet to avoid causing more pain.
His mom worries about Spencer coming home to all this chaos. She panics when he explains that Victor has custody of Spencer right now.
When she says she needs to do something, he begs her to leave it alone.
Nikolas admits that his uncle can accuse him of terrible things. His mom can’t help him. If he knows something, he needs to tell her.
He explains that if she takes down Victor, she was to take him down too.
Trina joins Spencer on the deck. They decide to start posting selfies together to make Esme jealous.
After they post one, Sonny and Nina show up. He’s disappointed his nephew hasn’t come to visit him since his early release.
Spencer thanks him for all the help he gave him in Pentonville.
Sonny and Nina pay their condolences for Rory and then head inside.
They talk about their plan. She admits she has some doubts about Esme being the hook. It could be someone they never suspected…
He gives her his jacket and she apologizes for telling him they aren’t friends.
He’s glad they can still be friends. He’s grateful given how much he hurt her.
Spencer talks about what a friend Britt has been to him. They have a lot in common and tend to push away the people they need.
They recall all their old feelings that they never acted on and look into each other’s eyes.
Michael meets with Dex on the pier. Dex fills him in about Sonny cutting a deal with some military contractors, Pikeman Industries.
“That’s as illegal as it gets,” Michael realizes. This is how they can bring Sonny down.
Dex warns him to think twice before messing with people as dangerous as Pikeman.
Michael wants constant updates. Dex warns him again that this could get messy.
It could put Sonny in jail forever. Michael says he’s not the father he knew and he doesn’t want him near his family.

Terry is surprised to bump into Finn at Britt’s party on the Haunted Star. She assumes Liz dragged him there.
Yuri is sick. She goes on about how nice it is to take care of him.
When she asks after Liz, he tells her that he’s the wrong guy to ask.
Terry is shocked when he admits that he and the nurse broke up.
Britt arrives with her mom, happy to see all the shirtless waiters that Brad hired. Liesl heads off to see Scott and Maxie and Brad welcome their friend.
Austin pops up and Maxie makes herself scarce. The doctor tells Britt how much her friends love her and want to make her happy. He suggests she think about that given this will be their last opportunity to see her.
She insists she is not running away; she’s making a graceful exit.
Sonny and Nina enter and she thanks him for coming out with her. It’s important that they are there for Britt. He warns that she will have a rough road ahead.
They start taking about how much family they have already lost.
A drag queen is wheeled in and leaps up, yelling they are dying of smoke inhalation because it is so hot in there. They get the dancing started.
Liesl interrupts Austin giving medical advice to one of the waiters.
Obrecht thanks the doctor for being a good friend to her daughter. She needs her friends now.
Liesl worries when she sees her daughter overdoing it. Britt tells her to stop worrying and have fun. She’s so happy she has Scott to keep her life from getting dull.
Sonny and Nina continue talking about their loved ones and how they fill up the loneliness.
He wants her to latch onto him and his daughter as her family. She kisses him.
They wander over to Britt and her mom. Liesl goes off to see Scotty and Britt asks
Nina to stop looking at her like she’s the walking dead.
Sonny tells her that what matters is what you do with the time you have. He’s sure Jason would want to see her doing something with her life.
The drag queen pays tribute to Britt and calls her up on stage to perform karaoke with Brad.
Everyone claps as they sing.
Terry demands that Liz explain why she broke up with Finn. Liz stares over at Finn.
A cake is brought out for Britt. Everyone tells her to make a wish.
After looking around, she almost tears up as she stares at the little flames.
