General Hospital recap for Wednesday, April 20, 2022. In today’s GH episode, Harmony nearly confesses to Alexis, Carly vents to Sam, Nikolas sees through Esme, and the robbers are freed.
We also have Tuesday’s GH recap where Valentin and Anna shared a kiss and Brendan’s body was fished out of the harbor.
At the Metro Court bar, Harmony tries to get Alexis to have a drink. She flashes back to finding Brendan’s body and looks at the booze on the bar. Alexis tells the bartender to close her tab and asks her friend what is wrong.
Harmony flashes back to Brendan falling off the cliff when fighting with her. She starts drunkenly stumbling to the door. Carly pops up and offers Harmony a room to sleep it off. Slurring Harmony won’t take charity.
After Carly leads her away, Sam shows up and her mom tells her she’s having a day from hell. Alexis drags her friend out. Sam tells Carly that she is not okay with what she just saw.
Sam tells Carly that Harmony is trouble, but her mom has made her back off. Carly will give her the benefit of a doubt for Willow’s sake. She apologizes again for badgering her into hacking into Dante’s email.
Was there anything in the forensics report that could help Trina? Sam tells her the evidence all pointed to Trina. Carly says this is bad and then starts complaining about Nina. Sam giggles as she listens to her vent.
When Alexis gets Harmony back to her place, she flashes back again to the night she broke in and killed Neil. Clinging to her bag, she tells her that she is terrified of herself.
Every choice she makes is the wrong one. Alexis has never seen her like this before and wonders if it’s because she’s told Willow she’s not her biological mother. Harmony hasn’t told her yet.
Alexis tells her that she found Brendan face down in the harbor. Jordan was full of questions for her. Harmony apologizes and tells her this is all her fault. “They think it was a suicide,” Alexis explains.
Harmony says she needs to get out of there and deal with something. Sam and Carly stop by with Harmony’s car keys. Harmony falls into her arms. Carly offers to take her outside to get some air.
Harmony wonders why she is being so nice. “Because Willow is my family,” Carly explains. “I wish she was mine,” Harmony admits.

The latest GH casting news – Trina recast
At Kelly’s, Cam tells Joss and Trina that they are wrong about Spencer. Joss trashes their former friend and can’t believe he’s defending him. That’s not okay. Spencer stands in the doorway and asks Cam not to say more.
Trina and Joss are ready to walk out. Cam wants to explain. Spencer admits there is something they should know. Before he can say anything, Rory shows up to get coffee.
Once the cop steps away, Spencer and Joss start bickering. Cam is perplexed when his friend starts trashing Joss and suggests that she got Trina to record them having sex to frame Esme.
Cam punches him. Rory rushes over and immediately places him under arrest. Spencer wants to take Cam outside to finish this. After he slaps Rory, he’s arrested too.
As they are taken out, Trina begs Rory not to take them, but he has to obey the law. Joss calls Diane.
Esme finds Nikolas drinking alone at Wyndemere. She offers to light his cigar but he’s not in the mood. He tells her that Ava has called off the vow renewal ceremony. She’s sorry to hear that.
The prince says it’s only an indefinite postponement. He and Ava have changed and he’s not sure they will get back what they had. The topic turns to Spencer’s doubts about her and all the people who think she is guilty.
Nikolas explains that Jordan was there and asking questions about her. He had the staff send her away. She thanks him for being protective. Taking his hand, she puts it on her face and thanks him for believing in her.
She tells him how much more mature he is than his son. Nikolas has not forgotten what she’s done and is capable of. He may not be able to outgrow his demons, but she still has the chance.
The prince can tell the difference between a lonely heart and a wicked one. “Which one am I?” she asks. She knows Ava thinks she is guilty. He says that his wife is in no position to judge her, and neither is he.
He wouldn’t forgive himself if he put her back in Sonny’s sights. Esme won’t allow him to let her get in the way of his marriage. If he won’t do something about this, then she will.
Since he insists, she won’t leave him… and Spencer.
Ava joins Nina at The Grill. Nina tells her that Scott has filed the visitation paperwork. She thought she should know in case there is any blowback with Avery. Ava wonders what Sonny thinks.
Sonny strolls in and bumps into Laura. He and Nina stare at each other as he sits down with the mayor. She wants information about the robbery at Charlie’s. The mobster dismisses it as just a couple of thugs. No one will mess with anyone.
She wishes she could say that about who killed Luke and informs him that Jennifer has been arrested. Laura says she was caught with the Ice Princess. That brings the Cassadines into this.
She asks him to make sure she knows anything Brick learns about Victor. When he agrees, she reminds him that he didn’t keep her informed the last time something happened with Spencer.
Sonny admits to her that he had a little chat with Esme. Laura trusts the justice system to sort this out and points out he has made himself suspect number one if anything happens to Esme. He promises not to touch a hair on her head.
Back at her table, Nina flashes back to discussing the case with Sonny and tells Ava she doesn’t expect him to take a side. She’ll keep Scott from putting Sonny on the stand.
They talk about how the thugs weren’t afraid of Sonny, but he took them down unarmed. Ava suggests that she’s into bad boys and then admits that she sent Sonny to intimidate Esme. Nikolas figured out what was going on and rescued her.
Nina gets a call from Phyllis and learns the two men who tried to rob Charlie’s are already back on the street. She immediately runs over and tells Sonny. Laura calls the commissioner and gets a confirmation.
Nina joins Sonny at the bar and he tells her he already knew the bail had been paid by someone with deep pockets. He reminds her not to ask too many questions. She doesn’t need to be protected.
Nina knows him and “Mike”; it isn’t either or: they are both him. She worries the two thugs could come after them again. He gets a text and has to take off.
Laura joins Ava, who fills her in on the latest at Wyndemere. She also tells her that the vow renewal isn’t going to happen. Ava thinks that he’s too selfish. Laura says it’s a family trait and it’s only gotten worse with Victor back.
Sonny goes down to a garage where one of the thugs is bound in a trunk by one of his men. The mobster tells him he will be joining his friend real soon and laughs.
When Sonny returns to The Grill, he assures Nina that those two guys will not be hitting Charlie’s again.
