In the Wednesday, July 7, 2021, full episode recap of Days of our Lives, Sami and EJ become playful, Lucas is upset that Kate’s working for EJ, Nicole asks for Chloe’s help in figuring out what’s up with Sami and Lucas, and Rafe is not happy with who is living in his house now. In bed, Sami dreams of EJ and calls out his name. She wakes up and he’s entering the room with breakfast. She tells him she had a bad dream that he was in pain and she couldn’t get his medicine to him. He kisses her hand. “I’m here. I’m here.” He’s hurting knowing that she spent years taking care of him and he treated her like garbage. He tells her they’re not ‘us’ again and it’s on him. Sami says when she told him she wasn’t ready for them to make love it was because —” He stops her. He thinks it’s because of how he treated her. He can’t believe she still stood behind him. Just being with her is enough for him. It took him a long time to heal and she waited. He’ll wait for her no matter how long it takes. “As little as I show it, I do love you,” he tells her. They kiss passionately. He tells her she doesn’t have to do this. She wants to and loves him. He lays her back and kisses her.
Kate finds Lucas having breakfast at the pub when she comes down the stairs. She greets him and Roman, who pours coffee. She thanks him for letting her have her old room back. She slept well. She’s glad to be under the same roof as her son. Lucas is crabby because his mother faked being blind. She could have told him. Or not pretended to be blind. “He has a point,” Roman says from the bar. Kate explains that she needed to do that, but she’s sorry she hurt him. “Could have told me there was a plan,” he gripes. She doesn’t trust him with a secret. He has no poker face. “What?” He finds that ridiculous and Roman says, “That’s actually right.” When Lucas heard Sami and EJ were staying in Salem, Lucas was obviously upset. Lucas says it’s because EJ’s an arrogant son of a you-know-what! Kate’s glad he’s staying. His first act as CEO of DiMera was to hire her. Roman’s shocked she’ll work for EJ. “The hell you are!” Lucas snipes. He doesn’t like that EJ’s sister hired someone to kill him and Sami and then when EJ paid the ransom, EJ took the money back. Kate thinks EJ had the situation under control. Lucas tells her to take up knitting. She doesn’t need the money but she’s going back to the job to pay back Jake and Gabi. Lucas thanks Roman for breakfast but he’s not hungry. He takes off with Kate yelling, “I love you.” Kate tells Roman she knows he deserves to tell her “I told ya so.” He takes no joy in that and is worried she can’t get over it. He thinks she’s started a war so she doesn’t have to care and then apologizes. She smiles, knowing he’s telling her this as a friend. They discuss Sami and Lucas and Roman thinks that they’ve reconnected as of late. Kate’s eyes widen.

Jake comes from the bedrooms at Rafe’s and asks if he can have coffee. Rafe’s confused as to why he’s there. Jake thought Rafe knew that they moved in. Gabi appears and apologizes. Jake doesn’t want to live in the same house as his brothers. “Especially EJ,” says Jake. Rafe can’t believe she moved out of her own house just because Jake didn’t like living there. Philip calls and Gabi realizes she left mail at the mansion and needs to go get it before work. She thanks Rafe for letting them stay there. Rafe has no issue with Gabi staying but does with Jake. He hates how Jake treated Kate. “You used her. How do I know that you’re not using my sister?” Jake explains he didn’t go to Gabi until he thought Kate broke up with him. He would have told her but she went blind. Rafe knows she’s not perfect but Kate’s his friend. Jake asks if he’s been with someone he cares about but can’t stop thinking of someone else? Rafe looks away. Rafe welcomes him to the “I hate EJ club.” He asks that Gabi doesn’t get caught in the crossfire and goes to work.
Chloe arrives at Basic Black and catches Nicole telling the bear she knows he misses Rafe, too. “Really? Talking to a bear?” Nicole doesn’t want to discuss that but asks how she can go about proving that Sami slept with Lucas. Chloe asks why she’d care. Nicole covers and Chloe says she does know that Sami put Lucas up to lying about him dying of a brain tumor. “What? Were they bored?” Chloe says it felt like a Sami thing. “Why would Sami want you gone?” She’s not sure but Kristen wanted her gone. Still, it makes no sense. Nicole recalls talking to Lucas about Sami and asks why Lucas roped him into spying on her. She remembers Lucas saying things between him and Sami changed and that “something happened.” Then Nicole recalls seeing Lucas and Sami holding hands and looking cozy at the pub.

Kristen calls Brady from some hotel room. He asks where she is. She can’t tell him that but she misses him and Rachel. He tells her Rachel’s fine and then lets her know Shawn gave him her personal effects that had a photo of Chloe with an X etched on her face. Kristen’s sorry he saw that. “You know I was out of my mind.” Brady says it reminded him he can never be with her, ever again. She sighs. She never would have hurt Chloe. Brady says she could have suffocated. He says sociopaths don’t care about other people’s lives and then wonders why he’s talking to her. Brady says Chloe got shot and Kristen asks if she’s dead. He tells her she’s alive. “Disappointed?” Kristen says of course not. She asks what happened. He tells her about Jan and Kristen looks upset. “Chloe could have died. You understand that?” He yells. Kristen can tell from his voice that Brady’s in love with her. Is she there? Brady denies it. “You psychotic b —” “Bitch?” Kristen says. She tells him to go be with her and she hopes they live happily ever after. She disconnects.

Gabi walks in on EJ and Sami making out in the living room and yells, “My eyes!” They stop kissing. She snipes at EJ for what happened between Jake and his brothers during the DiMera takeover meeting. EJ calls it nothing personal. It was all business. Gabi will make sure she and Philip grind DiMera Enterprises into dust. Sami follows Gabi out and tells her EJ didn’t know about her and Jake. She asks Gabi to be careful. She just threw the gauntlet down with the DiMeras. “Have you learned nothing?” While they’re outside, EJ takes a call from Kristen. She asks if he got her letter and Sami rushes in and grabs the phone and disconnects. EJ says she was about to tell him about the letter she sent. “Letter? What letter?” Sami says.
Brady walks in on Nicole and Chloe bashing Kristen. Chloe didn’t know she could despise Kristen more. “You and me both,” Brady says. Nicole goes and Brady tells Chloe about the mutilated photo that Kristen had of Chloe. He kept it to remind himself of what Kristen really is but doesn’t want to show her. She asks him so she can face what happened. He pulls it from his briefcase. “How could I have loved a woman who could do something like that?” He admits he got clarity talking to her not just about her. “About you. And what I want. And God, Chloe. All I want is to be with you.”
Outside at the pub, Nicole asks why Lucas lied about having a brain tumor and then tells him she thinks Kristen was blackmailing Sami because she knew that Lucas and Sami were sleeping together. Lucas opens and closes his mouth like a fish.
Back at Rafe’s, Gabi’s puzzled when she realizes she picked up the wrong letter. “This one is addressed to EJ DiMera.” Jake finds that amusing.
