In bed at Rafe’s house, Jake wakes up to Gabi watching Philip sending an email live from his computer. It’s a confidential report that needs attention. Gabi gripes when he stops typing. Jake thinks he may have gotten a phone call. She recalls him laundering mob money to clear his gambling debts. Maybe this is about something similar. Something to get him out at Titan. Jake rubs her leg and kisses her shoulder, wanting sex. She can’t. This is important. He reminds her the keylogger software logs everything. He rips off his wifebeater and they drape it over the laptop and go at it. After, she starts up talk about Titan and taking over. “We take over,” Jake clarifies. She tells him Philip needs to hire him. He goes to shower.
Kate arrives at Titan to stop Philip from making a mistake. “Is this about Chloe?” Kate says no. Jake. She thinks he’ll stab him in the back the way he did with her. Philip doubts that’ll happen. The situation differs. He trusts Jake will be angry and all in with helping crush DiMera. Kate reminds him she works there. Philip knows that they’ll be attempting to crush him. She’ll convince him to hire her “boy toy,” Kate says and the whole time they’ll work to bring him down. Philip thinks his mother’s paranoid. Kate again tries to warn him but he thinks he’s the one using them for information. Kate says there are better ways of getting it. “From your girlfriend, Chloe.” Philip asks his mom to stop comparing her relationship with Jake to his and Chloe’s. It’s only a matter of time until she’s truly his. Kate says fine. Just know that she loves him and thinks he’ll regret it if he hires Jake. “I’m just looking out for you. You know that, right?” She hugs him and goes.
At Basic Black, Brady tells Chloe the jet’s fueled up on the tarmac. “I’m whisking you away,” he says. They’re heading to New York for business. She can see her family. Chloe doesn’t think Philip would approve. She shares that he was upset when she ran off after Brady when Nicole’s party imploded. He wasn’t happy about that. Brady doesn’t seem to think Philip’s feelings matter, finding it immature. Chloe assumes Brady just wants to be with her alone.

Back at the house, Rafe gets coffee in the kitchen and offers to set the table for breakfast. “Oh, Ava says. You mean you want breakfast.” She tosses a granola bar at him but he thought she’d make the Italian eggs. She decided not to in case he had plans with Nicole. Rafe apologizes for missing diner. He should have let her know but she’s Ava’s friend too. He assumed she wouldn’t want Nic to be alone. Ava didn’t which is why she offered to bring dinner over. “You think that you’re the only person on the planet who can help Nicole.” Rafe says she didn’t want other people around and could barely get out of bed. “Poor baby,” Ava snipes jealously. “Nicole chose to cheat on her husband with Xander,” she says, calling it Nicole’s fault her marriage ended. Rafe thinks that’s harsh especially coming from her friend. They both agree that she didn’t deserve to have it broadcast at the party. Rafe explains how devastated that Nicole was when she found out Eric wasn’t coming home. She got drunk and “Xander took advantage.” Ava’s surprised he’s giving her a pass. He wishes he wouldn’t have silenced his phone that night. “Why? So you could have slept with her instead?” Ava asks. Rafe’s pissed. If he answered Nicole’s call, she wouldn’t have slept with Xander. He never would have had sex with Nicole. He’s involved with Ava. Ava thinks he should be honest with his feelings for her about Nicole. Rafe has been. Ava argues that she’s always on his mind. Rafe admits he cares for her, deeply. She begs him to admit he wants to “sleep” with Nicole as Gabi and Jake appear. Gabi gloats. She tried to warn Ava. Jake grabs her and takes off. Ava reveals his sister tried to warn her about his feelings for Nicole.
Nicole goes to see Roman. She’s sorry it’s taken her so long. She feels terrible about how the party turned out. “You should be,” he tells her. She cheated on Eric with a man they both hate. Nicole knows that but she didn’t like how Sami ruined the party by paying Xander to out them, hurting Eric in the process. Roman’s pained to hear that Sami would hurt her brother. Nic can tell it’s also not surprising. Roman’s still pissed she cheated on his honorable, wonderful son. How could she? Nic reminds him that his son was never around. Roman can’t get past her being with Xander and thinks she could have spared pain if she’d been honest. Nic says she and Eric realized that their marriage falling apart was inevitable. “We’re just different people.” Roman calls it a “nice little story,” but doesn’t think she can put a “nice little ribbon on it.” He talks about how forgiving Eric is but knows he’ll live with that pain she caused because he never loved anyone the way he loved her. Nicole starts to cry. Roman drones on and Nicole says he’s right. She’s a terrible person who deserves to live in misery for the rest of her life. She runs off in tears, then calls Brady from outside to beg off work again today. She decides to take the rest of the week off. He’s there if she needs him. She thanks him and Gabi finds Nicole. “Are you okay?” Nicole says no. Gabi’s sorry. She heard what happened at her anniversary party. Nicole says she should be sorry. Roman made it clear it’s all her fault. Gabi loves Roman but that’s not true. She knows Rafe doesn’t believe that, either. Nicole talks about how Rafe made her feel better when she was upset but she doesn’t want to get in his way. Gabi thinks her bro lives to care for those he cares about. She thinks Nicole should go over to the house and lean on him now. Nicole’s not so sure but Gabi encourages her.

Back at Rafe’s, he disconnects with Nicole and Ava admits Nicole’s been having an issue with her moving in with him. Even Gabi thinks that both Nicole and Rafe have feelings for each other and that they’ll take things to the next level. Rafe shakes his head. He basically calls her clueless and gullible and Ava’s tortured by that. Ava has seen for herself the way they look at each other. She calls him the most honorable man but he feels the need to be obligated to be with her. Rafe denies it. She stomps off after telling him he’s doing no favors in denying his feelings for Nicole.
Jake arrives at Titan for the interview with Philip. Philip admits his mother tried hard not to let him hire her and she had valid points. She suggested Jake is a Trojan Horse. Kate thinks that once he hires him, he and Gabi will try to take over the company. He can’t dismiss his mother’s theory. She’s a savvy businesswoman. Jake admits his mother taught him what he knows and he’s a good student. Since Philip doesn’t seem to want to hire him, Jake goes.
Gabi finds Ava at the square and gloats over warning the other woman that her brother wants Nicole.
Nicole arrives at Rafe’s, both glum.
