Wednesday, May 12, 2020: On today’s full episode recap of Days of our Lives, Sami’s kindness to Kristen doesn’t seem to matter to the DiMera, Xander and Nicole get drunk and have sex, and Brady goes into surgery.
Tuesday’s episode had Gabi and a very drunken Jake jumping into bed.
Sami sees Nicole and Xander head into Salem Inn together and wonders what her drunken sister-in-law is doing with Xander. Meanwhile inside, Xander rustles up some drinks and Nicole receives a call from Rafe that she ignores. Xander takes her phone and notes Rafe called. He gives her a drink and she complains about him looking at her phone. Nicole reluctantly drinks up. He tells her that Rafe arrested him for trying to sell his engagement ring. He calls Rafe an “uptight, self-righteous jerk.” Nicole kinds him kind — ten times the man Xander is. Xander assumes she’s got a thing for him. Back outside, Sami’s about to follow Nicole when John and Marlena show up to tell them that Brady’s in the hospital. They rush off and Sami looks at Salem Inn and damns Nicole. Back inside, Xander teases Nicole about wanting Rafe. He knows she’s lonely and Eric’s not coming back. As they talk, Sami eavesdrops outside the door.

Kristen shows up in Brady’s room dressed in scrubs and Chloe says, “Nurse, do I know you?” She says no. She’s there to prep Mr. Black for surgery. Chloe vows she’ll stick around until Brady’s better. She goes and Kristen takes off the mask and tells a sleeping Brady that it’s her. Kristen. She had no idea it was his car that she ran off the road. She cries and apologizes profusely. By the hub, Kayla’s surprised when Chloe tells him a nurse is prepping Brady for surgery since the OR was booked and she just now got a room. John and Marlena show up and Kayla takes John to Brady’s room. John doesn’t recognize Kristen in her mask when he visits his son. Kristen leaves the hospital.
Steve sees Rafe at The Bistro and learns he’s on a date. Steve asks who the lucky lady is and isn’t happy to see it’s Ava when she returns from the restroom. He tells them he has a problem with them dating. “And honestly Rafe, so should you.” Rafe cringes. He knows about his history with Ava. Steve says yeah, but he didn’t go through it. She was obsessed with him and made his life a living hell. “You threatened Kayla, you terrorized our whole family.” Rafe balks but Ava tells him to let Steve finish. Steve knows Rafe misses Hope but doesn’t want to see his friend go down this road. Rafe appreciates him looking out for him. Ava interrupts. She owns up to all of it and explains how her father messed her up. Not that it’s an excuse, but she wants both of them to understand and to know that she believes what she did was wrong and has learned from her mistakes. She wants to be a better person for her son and herself. “I want to be somebody who is worthy of love. Someone who could be worthy of a man like Rafe.” She apologizes to Steve and says she should have done this a long time ago. “For everything that I have done to you and Kayla and your entire family, I want you to know how truly sorry I am.” Rafe grins. Steve thanks her for her apology but isn’t ready to move on. He takes off and Rafe and Ava resume their date. Ava worries that he wants to leave but Rafe assures Ava he’s where he wants to be as the hold hands.

Before Sami can hear anything in Xander’s room, Kristen calls and demands they meet at the park. Sami goes and Xander’s surprised that Rafe is dating Ava. “The squeaky clean police commissioner is dating the mob princess.” Nicole says she’s changed and she’s jealous of her and shouldn’t be. Xander gets it. If she wasn’t, she wouldn’t be there with him. He calls her a horrible person and tells her to join the club. Nic loves her husband, she muss. Xandy calls her loyal but she says she’s awful. And now she’s drinking with her disgusting ex-husband. Xander grins widely. He tells her she’s reverting to form. He says birds of a feather flock together. “So what do you say? Why not flock?”
At the park, Kristen and Sami commiserate over Brady’s accident. Kristen needs help looking for Kate and smiles at Kristen, knowingly. Kristen finally admits she was pretending to be Kate. Sami asks why. Kristen tells her everything she did to kidnap Kate and Sami barks out a laugh at Kristen zipping Kate into a duffle bag. “Do you want to hear this?” Kristen says, annoyed. “Sure. I wish I had popcorn,” Sami admits. Kristen explains that the accident is her fault and Sami’s horrified. “Brady is in the hospital right now. he’s fighting for his life because of you?” Kristen almost hyperventilates and Sami calms her down. She knows Kristen really loves him. Kristen thanks her. Sami can’t help Kristen kidnap Lucas’ mother. Kate could be in trouble, drugged up and wandering the side of the highway. Sami goes to call Rafe and Kristen whips out a syringe. She injects Sami and Sami tries to strangle her until she falls unconscious.

At the hospital, Marlena wonders where Sami is. Chloe snorts but doesn’t tell her about Lucas and Sami’s scam. John appears and Chloe tells them that she spoke with Brady who told her ‘Kristen not Kristen’, which made no sense to her. Kayla brings Brady out of his room unconscious and everyone gives him some supportive words before he’s wheeled off.
Rafe and Ava head home. He says since they didn’t order dessert, he offers her a spare candy bar from the vending machine at work if she wants it. She’s headed to bed. He kisses her goodnight and later, checks his phone for a call from Nic.
Back at the hotel, Nicole tells Xander she hates him. She’d never sleep with him. He hates her too. He tells she can keep pining for Eric to return from Africa or for Rafe to get tired of Ava, but Xander’s done waiting. He won’t sit around waiting for Sarah to get tired of Rex. From now on he does what he wants when he wants. Nicole rips his shirt open and slaps him across the face and jumps on him, kissing him. While they go at it on his bed, Rafe leaves a message to call.
