At the hospital, Xander tells the doctor Gwen Rizczech suggested he see him for this pain in the neck he has. He tells the doctor that he’s on to him and wonders why he gave Gwen a huge bag of painkillers to distribute. “You’re forcing Gwen to be your drug mule,” Xander says. Xander couldn’t care less what he does but says to leave Gwen out of it. Snyder denies forcing her to do anything. He admits that in return for being his drug mule, he keeps her secret about her miscarriage. Snyder tells Xander to mind his own business.
At Nicole flashes to Sami looking at the faked hotel suite receipt she made to prove she didn’t cheat on Eric. Nicole knows Sami won’t give up until she learns the truth. Nicole writes an email to Eric about sex with Xander. She’s ready to hit send when Abe walks in with the twins. They embrace and she closes her laptop. Abe knows Eric being away is hard on her. Nicole admits her insecurities and guilt. “Guilt?” Abe asks. She brushes that off and admits she talked to Eric about it but it fell on deaf ears. Nicole asks how he and Lexie made it work. He admitted they had their ups and downs. He speaks out on her infidelity and how they worked through it. He believed that it was better to get it out in the open. Once he’s gone, Nicole can’t bring herself to send the email.
Sami rushes Lucas into the townhouse. She needs his help and it’s a matter of life or death. She tells him to take off his shirt. He smiles. “Really? I thought we weren’t going to do that anymore,” he says unbuttoning. “I showered so we’re good.” Sami gets a wire ready for him. They need to get Nicole admitting to cheating on Eric. Lucas does up his shirt. Sami tells him her idea to get Nicole talking about Sami obsessing with her cheating on Eric. Sami says to give her the Lucas look and she’ll tell him all her secrets. “Maybe throw a few drinks her way.” Lucas argues that it won’t work. She undoes his buttons and he pushes her away. “It’s never going to work.” Lucas thinks Sami is projecting her own guilt over cheating on EJ. Sami juts her chin out and avoids the subject. Lucas knows Sami’s trying to avoid dealing with her own infidelity. Sami cries and admits he’s right. It’s easier to hate Nicole because she can’t look at herself in the mirror anymore. EJ knows her. He’ll know right away what she did and will never forgive her. Lucas is supportive and questions if she’s in love with him as well as EJ. Sami reminds Lucas she’s married to EJ. Lucas thinks it’s one hell of a marriage. He pushes her away and shuts her down. Sami still has hope he’ll come around. Lucas asks what happens if he doesn’t. He suggests they give each other another shot. He thinks they’re the best version of themselves but that they have been in love since they were kids. They get closer and banter. Sami calls it bickering and Lucas calls it magic. She says she has a small problem that she’s married. What she and EJ had. “You just said what you had, like past tense,” he says. He’s all in if she is. He gives her “the Lucas eyes,” and she laughs and says to stop it. She reminds him they don’t do happily ever after well. She looks moved and whispers, “Oh Lucas.” A knock comes. “Do you think that’s EJ?” Lucas calls her paranoid but when she opens the door, EJ’s standing there smiling. (EJ is now played by Dan Feuerriegel).
