In the Thursday, June 24, 2021, full episode recap of Days of our Lives, EJ meets Jake and things are tense, Gabi taunts Kate, and Chad reveals his relationship with Abigail is not getting better at all. In case you missed out, on Wednesday’s Days of our Lives episode, Xander and Gwen hide Snyder’s body.
They just need three DiMeras to vote to remove Jake from DiMera Enterprises. There’s a new product going live and EJ guesses there will be nothing left of the stock or the legacy. Tony says it’s more like nothing left of the money. Chad’s quiet and EJ asks, “Are we or are we not taking Jake out?” Chad is in. EJ starts issuing suggestions which is noticed by Chad. EJ goes off to fire Jake. Upstairs, Kate calls Jake to ask about dinner in bed tonight. He’s swamped. She leafs through a magazine and tries to make him feel guilty. “Maybe Lucas will sit with me.” He’ll be home soon and disconnects. When Gabi arrives, Kate hides her magazine and pretends to be making plans with Jake. She asks who is there. Gabi says it’s her hostess. She brought some tea. It’s time for a chat, she says, ominously. Gabi reminds her that she walked in on her and Jake making love. Kate flashes to it and Gabi assures Kate that Jake loves her, not Kate. “Then why am I in his bed?” Kate asks. She accuses Gabi of groveling and says she’ll keep this conversation from Jake. Gabi gets her back up and says she’ll do her happy dance when she gets Jake back. Back downstairs, Chad says EJ likes taking charge. Tony’s fine with that. They discuss Abigail being gone for so long. Chad’s starting to think she’s not interested in their marriage. After they discuss their kids, she has nothing to say to him. She misses the kids but doesn’t want to see him. Tony’s sorry. “If I didn’t have the kids, I’d lose my mind,” Chad admits. If he can’t get her back, he’ll focus on getting Jake out of the company. They play chess and talk about who will vote on their side. Tony calls Theo and he plans on giving them his vote.

Sami visits Roman at the pub. She tells him she and EJ have decided to stay. Roman heard that EJ just announced it. “Did you talk to mom?” He ignores her and asks if she had a say in the manner. Sami thinks it’s only fair he gets to spend time with his family. Things are getting better between them, she says. They want to work on their marriage. He asks about Lucas, just as Lucas walks in. Lucas tells Roman he doesn’t want to intrude and takes off, leaving Roman wondering what’s going on. Sami acts innocent. Her focus is on EJ. Roman interrogates her some more and she asks him to stop. He asks her to dinner but she needs a rain check because tonight she needs to go home. Roman asks if she’s uncomfortable with Lucas and she denies it. She loves him. “I’ll give EJ your love too.” He tells her to do that. “And I love you.”

Jake lets EJ into his office at DiMera. EJ likes what he’s done with his former office. They introduce themselves. It’s charged with tension as Jake looks at EJ nervously. They make small talk and EJ lets him know he’s back, “And I want you out.” EJ says it’s not personal. Jake says it kind of is. EJ tells him they’ll be holding a vote to get him out of office. Jake asks why EJ’s giving him a heads up. “I guess it’s the DiMera’s sense of fair play,” he says, grinning. He goes and Gabi strolls into Jake’s office and tosses things off his desk. She wants him to make love to her now. He can’t. He tells her about the DiMera brother’s coup. She whips out a whiteboard and starts to write down the votes. Between the two sides, the votes are tied. There’s Steven, Benjy’s son, and Peter who has been out of prison a while. From what she knows, He’ll vote what’s best for Peter. Kristen likely won’t return to vote, she thinks. Gabi calls Steven to see if they can get his vote.
Kate’s the last one that Jake needs to try to win over.

Rafe finds Lucas at the square. He heard Kate’s home from the hospital. How is she? Lucas says he’s not sure. Gabi kicked him out of the mansion. He’s living above the pub and talks about EJ and Sami being back in Salem to stay. Rafe’s thrown. He sits with Lucas and hears that “he’s still the same swine he’s always been.” Rafe asks if he was standing there like he smelled something bad.” Lucas says he was and puts on a funny English accent and mocks EJ. Lucas tells Rafe that Sami was ready to move back to Italy but he wants to move back here. In his house, with his family. “And my blind mother, and your sister and that creepy portrait of Stefano.” Rafe calls it a good place for healing. They smirk. “And Sami bought it.” Rafe remembers he hates that jerk as much as he ever did. EJ walks up. “And what jerk would that be?” Rafe says, “That would be you.” EJ calls the feeling mutual. He sits, glad to run into them. They’ve had their issues. Rafe reminds him he hired someone to cut off my euphemism. “Yeah, that’s euphemism envy,” Lucas chimes in. Ej wants them to coexist for Sami’s sake. EJ offers to get drinks. Rafe could take a beer. “What are you doing? Now we gotta have a drink with the devil?” Rafe wants to know what he’s up to. He returns and asks Lucas to accept his relationship with Sami is limited and he’ll stay out of the parenting of his kids. Lucas begins to laugh. Sami strolls up and sees all of her exes. She demands to know what’s up and EJ says he’ll tell her about it on the way home. They go and Rafe asks Lucas what he was laughing at just now. “Nothing,” Lucas says.
Chad goes to Jake’s room to see Kate. He tells her about the vote to kick Jake out as CEO. She tells him he can’t count on her vote. Chad’s pissed. Kate says if she votes against him this is all over. “As it should be.” Chad tells her, “Grow up.” He blackmails her. Vote against him and he’ll keep quiet about her punishing Jake. She tries to hit him with her magazines and he grins at her. He goes back to Tony and says they’re not sure about Kate’s vote. Tony calls Peter to get his vote and Jake arrives to Kate’s room later to discuss DiMera Enterprises. Kate acts surprised. EJ and Sami return and EJ grabs Sami’s arm and warns that her exes better stay away from her and that she’d better do the same. Sami grabs her arm back and tells him to take a minute and think again about threatening her. He apologizes. He doesn’t want the past screwing up the future. She tells him, “You wouldn’t be EJ if you weren’t a little bit bossy.” She kisses him and goes upstairs. Chad appears and tells EJ the voting will be close. EJ calls Li Shin. “Mr. Shin. This is EJ DiMera. Do you have a minute?”
