Days of our Lives recap for Friday, January 6, 2023.
In today’s Days episode, Eric stuns John and Marlena with his revelation, and Kate takes a turn for the worse.
In the last Days recap, Brady played hardball with Kristen, and Rex gave Kate worrisome news about the women’s illness, while Brady’s threats had Kristen showing him where the orchid was kept only to see it had gone missing.
Chad gets tea for himself and Stephanie at the Horton house.
He says Thomas told Jack that “today was lit.” They laugh.
Chad thinks he learned that from him. The cool dad.
Stephanie agrees with Thomas’ assessment. She laughs about videotaping his fall on the ice and then winces.
Her ankle hurts. Chad offers to massage it and says, “Then maybe you can accidentally delete that video.”
They smile at each other as he takes her ankle and massages her.
Alex calls and apologizes and then says he keeps thinking Chad’s finding ways to be with her. He wants to move forward. She does too. He asks her to dinner. They agree to meet at The Bistro.
At Brady’s pub, Kate sneezes and Roman worries she’s relapsing because of her bloodwork.
She doesn’t want to go to the hospital and asks for some chowder.
At the hospital, Kayla reads the test results from the lab.
The rate of decline is vastly accelerated for their mystery illness.
She and Kate might be in real trouble. She suspects Marlena is as well and worries. Steve holds her.
Rex has no more serum and so Kayla says they need to warn the others.
At the townhouse, John and Marlena have a big fight when John has a little compassion for Kristen.
“You don’t know the meaning of the word loyalty,” she barks.
She says he has no disregard for his wife.
John calls her unfair but Doc says she’s an evil, lying bitch.
She feels betrayed and tosses a glass of liquid in his face. He cringes. “Really?”
She apologizes. She got caught up. John says it’s fine.
This is why they’re rehearsing their fight.
It’s the only way he’ll get Kristen to trust him.
Marlena hopes John can find out what she has over Brady.
Eric arrives and asks for Brady.
They haven’t seen him yet. He tells them that he kidnapped Rachel tonight.
He explains the situation and John and Marlena worry this could shove Kristen off the deep end.
Eric tells them about the blackmail and that she’s holding her life over Brady.
Eric tells them the threat isn’t over. All three of the women will need a second shot and possibly a booster.
Kristen won’t turn over the orchid unless Brady keeps doing what she wants.
John asks if Doc’s been feeling okay. She wavers a little. Dizzy. She sneezes and the men look at one another.
They discuss the blackmail and John worries things will go sideways.s
In the secret room, Kristen freaks out. The orchid is gone and she swears she doesn’t know where it is.
Brady tells her to find it or else. He’ll take Rachel from her.
Kristen calls that heartless but Brady says, “Are you kidding me?”
She’s been holding Marlena and the other’s lives hostage for months.
He yells to give him the flower but she insists she doesn’t know where it is.
He screams and she swears on Rachel’s life that someone stole it.
Brady and Kristen come up from the tunnel and she’s spoken with Harold who hasn’t seen the orchid.
She talks about there being construction and Brady worries someone walked off with the plant. She’s sorry.
She swears she didn’t want the women to die but Brady tells her that if they die, their blood is on her hands.
Back at the pub, Kate eats chowder and Roman takes a call from his sister and learns about the relapsing.
He tells Kate, who asks him to pass the pepper.
He’s worried but she doesn’t intend to get sick. She can’t go through this again.
Roman knows it’s hard. He’ll be with her.
Chad arrives and Roman tells him the virus is back and he asks Chad to insist Kate go to the hospital.
Kate cries and again refuses.
She gets up and collapses into Chad’s arms. Her pulse is weak.
They put her on the floor and prepare to take her to the hospital.
Back at the hospital, Rex tells Steve and Kayla that his mom will put up a fight.
When she moves to call Marlena, she passes out.
The men scramble to get her before she slides to the floor.
She comes to and is feverish but insists she has so much work to do, though Rex wants to admit her.
At the Kiriakis manse, Alex and Steph didn’t realize The Bistro was closed for construction.
They dine on grilled cheese and tomato soup as she tells him he has no reason to be jealous of Chad.
Alex says they almost hooked up. She says they didn’t. She’s with Alex.
They snuggle on the sofa later, and since it’s about minus ten below, he asks her to stay the night.
They kiss and go up to his room. He notices her ankle is sore and she says Chad massaged it. Alex decides he’s not jealous. They kiss loudly.
At the hospital, Kayla’s set up in a room and Chad calls to tell her that Kate’s being admitted.
Kayla tells Rex that his mom passed out at the pub and is on her way in.
He rushes to meet them downstairs as Kayla tells Steve to call Marlena.

Back at the townhouse, Brady and Kristen arrive and Brady tells his family that the orchid is missing.
They searched the whole house.
John suggests she hid it elsewhere. Kristen swears she doesn’t know what happened to it.
John yells at her for being a twisted and evil monster. Kristen guesses he was putting on a show for her, too.
She knows Eric took Rachel. She assumes they were working together and calls them liars.
Marlena says she has no right to the moral high ground. Kristen says maybe they’ll find the orchid.
Brady worries the symptoms will return.
Steve calls John and relays the bad news. John asks Marlena to lie down. Before she does, Marlena tells Kristen if anything happens to them, it’s on her.
Kristen promises she was going to turn the orchid over at the first sign of any symptoms.
Eric says they need to find the orchid. She knows. She also needs her kid.
Eric disappears and returns with Rachel and the mother and daughter reunite.
Back at the hospital, Rex is with Kate when she comes to in a hospital bed.
She can tell it’s bad. Rex is just glad she’s been admitted.
She says she felt fine a moment ago and feels weak.
She cries a little, knowing it’s happening faster.
Rex will care for her. She asks him not to let her die there. “Bring me home.”
By the hub, Steve, Chad and Roman talk about what John told them about Kristen using the orchid to control Brady and that it’s gone missing.
Chad agrees to call Stephanie who will want to be there for her mom.
Kate starts feeling strange and Roman arrives as she says she loves them and flatlines.
Rex yells, “No, no, no.” He does CPR and has to call the time of death. Roman yells at his son not to stop.
The men embrace after Rex pronounces Kate dead.
In Kayla’s room, Steve insists she and the other women will be fine.
Back at the Kiriakis mansion, Steph goes to the bathroom while Alex intercepts Chad’s call and sends it to voicemail.
