Days of our Lives recap for Thursday, January 5, 2023.
In today’s Days episode, Brady plays hardball with Kristen, and Rex gives Kate worrisome news about the women’s illness, while Brady’s threats have Kristen showing him where the orchid is kept only to see it’s gone missing.
In the last Days recap, Stephanie ripped into Alex for shooting Chad down, Jada consoled Rafe, who signed divorce papers, and Sarah asked Xander for a divorce.
John and Marlena are at Salem Inn. She comes from a hot stone massage and he tells her that he just read a disturbing message from Brady.
Kristen was arrested for brainwashing her own brother, Stefan. Marlena laughs, out of shock.
She wonders if Rolf brainwashing people will ever stop. She’s surprised he took orders from Li and Kristen.
John says they shared the same goal. Marlena wonders what Kristen’s motivation was. John says it was about Brady.
She wonders if he was brainwashed. John denies it. She’s holding something over his head.
That much he knows. They can’t wait to get her out of their lives and Doc wonders why they were asked to stay a little longer at the Inn.
He shrugs but says it’s no hardship.
They sit on the bed and he bounces. He has an idea to make it more productive.
They kiss and chuckle.
John sneezes and they begin to laugh.
He hopes he hasn’t ruined the mood.
He smells patchouli.
She gets her dressing gown and finds an oil for back rubs inside.
She hands it over and he laughs.
Is she angling for a massage? “Have you met me?”

Kristen paces the townhouse, freaking out about where their daughter is.
Brady’s calm confuses her. She sobs and begins to hyperventilate.
He calms her down and tells her to go rest and he’ll make some calls.
At Sloan’s place, Eric, Rachel and Sloan eat sandwiches. Sloan complains to herself about being forced to aid and abet a felony.
Rachel wants to go home. Eric urges her to do a makeover but she just wants to go home.
Eric growls in his throat. She can’t go home. Her parents are both sick and don’t want to get her sick.
Rachel’s glad, thinking they must have kissed at midnight.
Sloan sends the kid into the kitchen for a cookie while Sloan wishes Eric was transmitting germs to her right now instead of this.
If she’s caught she could get disbarred. This needs to end today or he needs a new plan.
The girl returns after eating two cookies and wants to talk to Daddy but Eric puts her off.
They agree to do a makeover and she toddles off while Sloan says he’s lucky she’s madly attracted to him.
Brady calls to see how Rachel is. Eric says she’s homesick. They agree to make the ransom demand right away.
He almost feels bad putting Kristen through this.
He has to be careful about Kristen finding out he’s the one who kidnapped Rachel.
Kristen walks out and hears him. She confronts him.
He tries to deny what he did but she heard everything.
“What the hell did you do with my daughter, Brady?” She demands. He’s not telling her.
She’s exasperated. He says she gave him no choice. He needed leverage so he took Rachel.
He wants the orchid. She demands to know who his accomplice is and tries to get his phone.
He doesn’t care. He reminds her of what he did to him with Chloe.
Kristen taunts that she’s probably basking with her new lover. Kristen says a judge won’t let him have custody after this.
Brady tells her they’ll never find out. She did this to herself! He wants the orchid and Rachel will return.
If she doesn’t, she’ll never see Rachel again! They argue.
She threatens that he needs to get her daughter back or she’ll let those women die.
Brady gets in her face. “Fine,” she says. They take off.
At Brady’s pub, Kate wishes she would have stopped at the first bottle of champagne. Roman laughs.
The prison is taking visitors so when Rex arrives, she asks him to visit Lucas with her. He has something else on his mind.
The test results from her blood. There are abnormalities in her liver.
He’ll run identical tests on Marlena and Kayla. Kayla and Steve arrive, back from Seattle.
Roman has bad news for them. He assumed that the serum only needed to be given once but he’s not sure anymore.
Steve wants to try to find out who the anonymous benefactor was.
Kayla agrees to go with Rex to the hospital and instead of rushing it to the lab, they’ll take care of it on their own.
Kayla wants to wait to tell Marlena until after she and John are done with their spa time.
Everyone disperses and Steve worries to Roman that the women will suffer through this horrible illness again.
They can’t let it happen.
At University Hospital, Rex and Kayla do paperwork. She asks how he is doing.
He hopes he didn’t fail all three of them. Later, Kayla has had her blood taken and seems upset with what she learned.
She calls Steve, who says he’ll be right over. When he arrives, Rex shows them the paperwork from the lab.
Kayla sneezes and Rex doesn’t think he’s wrong. They’re relapsing.
Back at Sloan’s, Sloan shows off Rachel’s makeover.
She has a little makeup on and Eric calls her gorgeous. She wants to do Uncle Eric’s next.
They put makeup on him and red lipstick. He thinks he looks pretty good. Rachel calls him beautiful.
She starts talking about her parents reuniting and before Eric can tell her otherwise, Sloan gets her to take her makeup off.
He gets a call from Brady and both he and Sloan are happy to know that he’s getting the orchid. This is over today!
Kate returns to the pub after seeing Lucas.
She sneezes, which worries her and Roman.
Kristen and Brady arrive at the DiMera mansion. He asks who is in on it but she says it’s just her.
She goes to the tunnel and Brady says he should have known. Everything and everyone is always hiding in the DiMera secret room.
She opens a secret panel and they’re aghast when they see the orchid is gone.
