Marlena and John are glad that they get to relax together this Labor Day weekend. Marlena cleared her schedule. Shane Donovan interrupts with a phone call. He wants Black Patch on a case in Zurich as soon as possible. They sigh. “There goes our weekend,” Marlena says. John calls Steve, but he and Kayla have Justin and Bonnie’s wedding. They make out and John says he loves his wife. She suggests he take her in Steve’s place. She’ll visit Carrie and help him with the case. John loves that idea. They pack and head out, kissing happily.
Jake kisses Gabi in bed at Rafe’s. He wants sex but she tells him he has to be early on his first day and shouldn’t expect sex daily on Philip’s desk. They talk about their plan to rip the DiMera empire out from underneath them. Jake dresses and wants sex but she refuses. He tries hard to convince her, and eventually, she gives in when he asks her to think of it as a team-building exercise.
At DiMera manse, Tony can’t find Anna. Chad says she took out fifteen minutes ago like a bat out of hell. Tony finds that odd and leaves her a message. He laughs that a little mystery is good for a marriage. “At least your wife is in the same city,” Chad says. Tony assures that Abby will come back to him. Chad doesn’t think he deserves it but he hopes so. Instead of doing something fun this weekend, he’ll just work. He admits he sent Charlotte and Thomas with Jack to the lake for the holiday. Tony invites him for breakfast but he has an early meeting. He rubs his brother’s shoulder and thanks him for listening. Tony’s sure things between him and Abigail will work out. “Trust my words.” Chad goes and Tony wonders where his own wife is.
Anna rushes in to see Roman at the pub. He admits they’re not open yet but she came to tell him that life as they know it can change forever. He repeats her, confused. She tells him there’s an issue and they need to do something about it. They need to get to Zurich right now because Carrie and Austin’s marriage is on the outs. She needs them. Roman says Carrie and Austin are adults and will wroth this out. Anna gets emotional. She worries it won’t happen. They’ll have a family meeting and convince the kids not to break up. Roman refuses to go. He doesn’t think she should, either. “She’s an adult.” They argue over whether or not Carrie needs them.
Eli wakes up hours before he’s supposed to get up, having worked late. Lani tells him they have breakfast at Auntie Paulina’s. It’s a way for her to make up for what happened. “Didn’t we already forgive her for that?” Lani says she likes to go all out. They dress and Eli begrudgingly goes along to Auntie P’s.
On a call from home, Paulina assures Tamara that Abe won’t find out that Lani’s her daughter and that he’s not the father. Abe strolls in as she says she isn’t going to lose him. “What was that about?” He asks. She covers and says there’s an issue with her caterer. Abe decides they can make breakfast on their own. They smooch. Later they dress and her famous casserole in the oven before Lani and Elani arrive with the twins. Mamosas are passed around and Abe proposes a toast to second chances and new beginnings. Later, the meal is burned and Paulina feels terrible. Eli has to leave for work. He has the weekend off. They’ll reschedule. “Let’s do lunch in Miami,” Paulina suggests. They’ll get to see her place on Star Island, which is fabulous. Everyone agrees they’re in. It’s suggested that Julie and Doug should take care of the kids. They’ll love that. They go and Paulina calls Chanel who can’t make the trip. She’s too busy with the bakery.

Chad stumbles upon Chad and Gabi at the square. Chad taunts Jake about losing the CEO job at DiMera and Gabi has to hold him back. Gabi thinks Jake will be running Titan before he knows it. Chad smirks. He brings up Sonny, Will and Arianna. Gabi plans on bringing her to stay but Chad doubts that’ll happen. Gabi scoffs. How would he know? She spoke with Sonny yesterday. Chad hasn’t been a good friend. Chad agrees it’s been a while. Abby’s name is brought up. Gabi gloats that she’s not returning to him and they go back and forth. Chad takes off and Jake thinks Gabs was a little hard on Chad. She snipes that he was handed the company, just like Philip was with Titan.

Anna returns to the mansion. She tells Tony all about Carrie and Austin’s marital discord. He agrees with Roman that she should let them work it out for themselves. Anna huffs about him taking Roman’s side but Tony thinks her presence could make things worse if they haven’t already made up before the plane landed. When she refuses to back down, Tony says he’ll book their flight. Anna smiles, happily. They banter.

At home, Lani and Eli get ready to go to Miami. She can’t wait to show him around. She has a bikini she’s been waiting to hear. He can’t wait to see her in it and out. They kiss.
Chad stops at the pub to see Roman. He wants to take a trip to Phoenix and asks for Roman’s take on that. Roman thinks it’s a perfect idea. The guys are missing family and friends. Chad calls Sonny, grinning as he apologizes for not staying in touch. He heard about his IPO and wants to come out and congratulate him in person for the weekend. Sonny’s thrilled. Chad will fire up the DiMera jet.
