In the Monday, July 5 2021, full episode recap of Days of our Lives, Paulina tries to explain what she did to the square, Ben wants Ciara to remember, and John and Marlena share a little romance. In case you missed out, on Friday’s Days of our Lives episode, Ciara revealed she was engaged to Theo.

John goes to Marlena’s office to bring the Fourth of July to her. He’s brought food, for which she’s grateful since she was going to eat the tuna surprise from the cafeteria. They talk about meeting Paulina Price and plan on inviting her and Abe out. John didn’t know that he was dating Paulina. He hopes they can be as happy as they are, especially after Lexie and Val. Marlena hopes so. John pulls out the mocktinis and pours. They eat fruit and kiss and she says she’s seeing Ben Weston tomorrow. He’s having a hard time being without Ciara. John knows it has to be rough. Marlena says Ciara hates Ben and is constantly berating him and reminding him of his past. Marlena hopes she comes around. Since Marlena can’t accompany John, Brady and Rachel to fireworks they’ll have to make their own. John kisses her passionately.

Eli, Lani, Chanel and Abe rush up to the contractor who is demolishing Horton town square. He tells them he has his orders. They’re baffled. They say this is the future home of Pricetown. Paulina walks up and says it’s just a name she’s been toying with. The contractor calls it a big box store. Chanel recalls seeing the blueprints and lets the others know that when she asked, her mom told her the architect gave her the wrong blueprints. Paulina wants to go back to the party. Lani freaks out. Abe snipes that he lobbied for her to make the permits happen and it was a lie. He thought they were something more. “We are,” she says. She says she saw this amazing opportunity for the community and made the hard choice to ask for forgiveness than permission. Eli looks at the permit. She’s tearing down the whole square. Paulina maintains that everyone wins. “Except the small business owners and the people of color,” he says. She tells him it’ll create more jobs. Eli reminds Paulina that Alice and Tom were his great-great-grandparents. He didn’t know them but they still mean something to him. “Had I known,” she says. Lani wishes Paulina never came to town. Paulina looks upset. They leave. Abe tells the contractor to go. Paulina admits she owns The Bistro, and Salem Inn. Abe takes off and Chanel asks, “When you said you believed in me, was that a lie too?” Paulina says she believes in her daughter. She does. Chanel says she had a dream. What’s she supposed to do now? Paulina says she can work at Pricetown. Chanel wanted to make her proud. “What kind of mother does that to her kid?” Paulina wants forgiveness. Chanel looked up to her mama and it turns out she’s a liar and a cheat. Paulina loves Chanel and tries to talk her down but Chanel leaves. Abe suggests she apologize to everyone. He’s just not sure she’s sorry. Paulina says it spiraled out of control.
At Julie’s Place, she rants to Theo and Doug that there must be a misunderstanding. Doug’s sure that Abe and the others are straightening it out. Theo tells them he has good news. He’s engaged. To Ciara. That’s why they’re in town. So Ciara can get Ben to sign divorce papers. They’re stunned. He admits he’s always loved her and she’ll be safe with him. They ask what it’d mean to them if she did remember. Eli and Lani return and show Doug and Julie Alice and Tom’s plaque and explain what happened. Julie yells and seethes until Doug tries to calm her down, reminding her that Paulina’s family. Julie apologizes. Lani calls her aunt selfish and says it makes her sick. Theo’s certain that their father will find a way to fix this. Julie and Doug decide to go home. Once gone, Theo tells his sister he has good news. “Ciara and I are getting married.” She hugs him. He tells her Ciara is getting Ben to sign divorce papers. Theo has heard that Ben has changed but he’s still worried about her being with him alone.

At Ben’s apartment, Ben and Ciara scream at each other. He won’t sight the divorce papers and she wants them signed. She tells him she and Theo are engaged. He doesn’t believe it. He asks where the ring is. She didn’t want him to see it and freak out. She takes it from her purse and puts it on. Ben tells her she doesn’t love Theo. She loves him. Ciara yells that Theo treats her well and doesn’t murder women. She doesn’t need a possessive obsessive husband. She needs someone who keeps her safe. She tells him she’ll be more stubborn than him and won’t stop bothering him to sign. “Like mother like daughter,” he says, telling her that Rafe let him know that he went through this with Hope. The difference is, Hope didn’t love Rafe anymore. “You just don’t remember.” Ciara’s horrified and embarrassed to think of them being married. He rips the papers up. He’s planning on putting up the biggest fight of his life. He throws the papers on the floor. She doesn’t care. She’s happier than she’s ever been. She decides they’re going to court. She tries to leave and he stands in front of the door and then locks it.
