Days of our Lives’ Cady McClain Out as Jennifer Horton

Temporary recast finished at NBC.

We all knew All My Children vet Cady McClain had joined Days of our Lives in a temporary capacity as Jennifer Horton Deveraux when it was announced back in September of 2020. We knew that Melissa Reeves decided not to return to the soap during the ongoing global health crisis and would need a recast due to the ongoing storyline with Jack Deveraux (Matt Ashford).

According to the upcoming Soap Opera Digest magazine, McClain was only supposed to be temporary and that come February 17, she’ll leave Salem for Boston. She and Mike will go through Laura’s belongings, her estate. She’ll return via telephone calls starting March 1 for a time.

There is no word if Reeves will return in the role or if Jennifer will be written out for any length of time or even permanently. What that means to Jack and the rest of the Deveraux family remains to be seen. Reeves became a grandmother recently, twice over, with her husband, Scott Reeves (ex-Ryan McNeil, Young and the Restless, and ex-Steven Webber, General Hospital) and they’ve been spending time with family in Tennessee, where she was commuting from until the pandemic hit.

Three months before the actress left the show, it was revealed that Reeves liked several anti-BLM posts from the right -wing activist Candace Owens on Instagram.

This wasn’t the first time the actress had been accused of having controversial views. A few years ago, on Twitter, Reeves supported the anti-gay fast-food chain, Chick-fil-A. She tweeted “Land of the free and home of the brave. Love that we all appreciate free speech, right?” Soon after, she left Twitter and made a statement, “Due to all of the inappropriate comments and threats to me and my family, I regret to say that I will be shutting down this Twitter account. I don’t feel that it is God-honoring to spend this much time fighting over things that we disagree on. The internet can be a great thing, but it can also be very destructive in the sense that you cannot truly learn the heart of a person in just a few words. I appreciate and love you all and thank you for your support over the years and will be praying for you. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.  Mark 12:30”

Linsey Godfrey (Sarah Horton, Days) read a tweet from a fan who stated, We all have our own opinions and views! That’s what make the USA the land of the free and home of the brave!” To that, Godfrey responded, “Nah, there is no difference in opinion on racism, homophobia, transphobia xenophobia”

Lamon Archey (Eli Grant, Days) posted a gif of a black man apparently making a list, with the tag “Who else y’all”
