May he rest.
Christopher Pennock was hospitalized recently, spending many days receiving treatment for an unknown illness, before passing away at the age of 76 Friday, February 12. Some sources claim he was being treated for non-Covid related pneumonia, which hasn’t been substantiated. He was also said to have possibly passed in his sleep. The actor’s family may not choose to reveal his illness.
The actor portrayed D.A. Mitch Williams on General Hospital from 1979 to 1980 as Tracy Quartermaine’s second husband and was well known for the role of Gabriel Collins from 1970 to 1972 on the iconic show, Dark Shadows. He was also in two other soaps. Many will recall his time on, Days of our Lives, as Joe Taylor, as Justin Marler in 1990 on Guiding Light, and as Steven Petrie in Young and the Restless in 1986.
Pennock was said to have been “impossibly talented, neurotic, loving, tempestuous, honest, intelligent, and necessarily profane,” in a loving tribute by Collins Port Historical Society’s website.
Soaps Spoilers staff’s hearts go out to Pennock’s family and friends with whom he left behind. May he rest in peace.
Farewell, icon and actor #ChristopherPennock. He was one of a kind. Chris was an entirely generous, humble, intelligent actor, a kind man and a joyous force of nature on the set. #DarkShadows I’ll bet he’s already busy stirring things up on the other side of the veil…. pic.twitter.com/6PIoBKKzER
