Speculation on what might happen if the story went in this direction.
Bold and the Beautiful’s Deacon is the hero of the hour—for the moment. He was the first at the scene of the crime, he called 911, basically saving Steffy’s life. He also called Ridge to report the shooting and even went as far as to comfort Sheila, though he has no idea she’s the shooter. Deacon still believes that Sheila knew nothing about the shootings of Steffy and Finn, let alone that she pulled the trigger.
Hitting the sheets
What if, in that uniquely soap opera way, Deacon finally gave in and hit the sheets with his not-so-secret admirer?
Deacon and Sheila becoming a gruesome twosome in every way would not only give fans something they’ve been wanting, it would have Sheila on edge trying to keep her secret from her new lover. Lots of “OMG she’s about to get caught” moments ensue.
But now we’ve got Bridget back in town and Deacon has always carried a torch for the woman he screwed over by screwing her mother. Deacon will inevitably cross paths with Bridget and she might even be impressed at how he’s living life on the straight and narrow.
No doubt Bridget will be worried about the endless New Year’s Eve kiss that no one can stop chatting about, but Deacon will assure Bridget that it was nothing and that Brooke and he will never happen.

Deacon dates Bridget
It takes some convincing, but Bridget agrees to go on a date with Deacon. What about Sheila? Deacon thinks it’s just sex between them but the nutty nurse has got stars in her eyes and dreams of becoming Mrs. Sharpe.
When Sheila finds out that Deacon and Bridget are dating in a particularly humiliating way, she goes off the rails and vows revenge for this betrayal. Turns out she does still have the smoking gun and Steffy’s jewelry squirrelled away for the right timing.
Just as Bridget decides that she and Deacon are a couple again, the police arrive to arrest Deacon on suspicion of murder. Seems they got an anonymous tip that led them to Deacon’s locker at the restaurant—where they found the incriminating gun and jewelry that we learn Sheila planted before making the anonymous call.
Deacon is hauled away, screaming that he’s been set up, Bridget is horrified that she gave him another chance and writes him off and Sheila is in the shadows grinning that psychotic grin.
Sheila’s in the clear and in the catbird seat. At least until Thomas puts all the pieces together.
This will never happen and here’s why
Buuuuut… this is still B&B after all. They stick to what they think works. It’s no accident that Bill and Liam were waxing poetic about how great Steffy is and how Liam will always love her. The triangle that no one wants is surely about to kick off again.
Liam will surely be at Steffy’s bedside, saying inappropriate things that current wife Hope will overhear. Bill has made his preference for Steffy clear, which will have him doing all sorts of silly meddling stuff to get them back together. Wash, rinse, repeat.
