B&B Opinion: Brooke’s Empowerment Speech, Taylor Not Speaking Up Seemed Like Manufactured Drama — Plus, The Twist of the Year

Bold and Beautiful opinion for November 28 – December 2.

Steffy Exposes Thomas’s Deception, Brooke Stands Up for Herself, Ridge Sort of Apologizes, Douglas Comes Home and Other Small Miracles.

Ridge tries and fails to make sense

Last week on The Bold and the Beautiful, Taylor learned that she got played by her own son, Steffy vowed that Ridge would know the truth and Brooke started to figure out that Thomas was the reason Ridge left her again.

This week, we got a series of small miracles, as Steffy shocked the wedding guests with the awful truth, Brooke and Taylor had a surprising confrontation and Ridge apologized to Brooke – who gave him a long overdue piece of her mind.

Are we in for some good soap opera?

I’m cautiously optimistic that this could be another two to three weeks of fantastic soap opera, similar to when Sheila shot Finn and Steffy.

I’m not saying we should expect B&B to suddenly begin a second golden era of iconic and unmissable soap opera.

The glory days of this show are probably over.

But sometimes, when B&B doesn’t focus on dull recapping and repetitive scenes, great stuff still happens.

Let’s enjoy it while we can!

Forrester family freak-out

Family conflict and drama are essential to good storytelling on other soaps, so I’m glad we’re finally getting some on B&B with the dysfunctional Forrester clan.

After Carter said the wedding vows for Ridge and Taylor (how weird was that?), it seemed like this wedding might actually happen without anyone spilling the tea on the fake CPS call.

Is it too much to wish that the writers might throw a new twist in this well-worn and out-of-fashion love triangle?

Yes, as it turns out.

Taylor’s latest happy ending goes poof

This should have been the happiest day of Taylor’s life – or at least in the top five of her favorite weddings.

Yet it seemed obvious that Steffy was going to tell Ridge the truth if Taylor didn’t.

Did you notice how antsy and itchy Steffy was during the vows?

For that reason, Taylor not speaking up seems like manufactured drama created to cause conflict between Ridge and Taylor, probably to give him a viable reason to leave her and go back to Brooke AGAIN.

It’s not like we haven’t seen this before.

Forresters in disarray!

Sure, we got some great scenes of the brunettes in disarray, post-wedding interruptus.

Taylor was at her wit’s end, Thomas was pulling the same old “woe is me” routine and Ridge wasn’t quite sure what the heck was going on.

I thought Taylor’s apology to Ridge about not telling him about the CPS call was perfectly reasonable.

She only just found out minutes before what Thomas had done and she made a judgment error.

Hardly the worst thing Taylor’s ever done, right Darla?

What’s not to love about Steffy now?

Does everyone believe me now when I say that I like Steffy?

This week, Steffy actually seemed like the next matriarch of the Forrester family instead of a spoiled brat obsessed with her parents’ sex life.

She may have accepted that the wedding battle was lost thanks to Thomas’s failed plot to frame Brooke, but Steffy was still determined that Ridge and Taylor would marry.

Steffy threw down the gauntlet and vowed that the war for temporary custody of her daddy’s peen was far from over!

Steffy is best when she’s about family.

I joke, but all of Steffy’s actions and reactions are making sense to me right now.

Sure, she’s ripper her brother to shreds and basically ruined her parents’ wedding, but Steffy is still Team Tridge’s number one fan.

So I believe it when Steffy says that family is her priority because, even in the shakiest of stories, her raison d’etre is always the same: she wants what’s best for the Forresters and woe to anyone who gets in the way of that.

What should happen next?

Brooke and Steffy should have an awkward conversation at the FC offices, where Steffy apologizes for what Thomas did, but makes clear that she’s going to get Ridge and Taylor to the altar, come hell or high water.

Brooke Logan is done with this nonsense

Could whoever penned Brooke’s empowerment response to Ridge’s lukewarm apology on Thursday’s episode write the whole show?

It was all my critical tweets addressed! Well, mostly.

Not only did Brooke demand respect from her most frequent husband, Ridge also sort of apologized in between blaming everyone else for his own decisions. Character growth!

Brooke is in for a long wait.

I applauded when Brooke told Ridge that he needed to do some soul-searching, which really should only take him about five minutes, at most.

The real gut punch came when she told him not to come back until he can commit himself to her completely!

Was Ridge stunned by Brooke’s sudden re-growth of a spinal column?

Hard to say since his face registers no emotion or understanding when a woman is talking to him.

Not to burst Brooke’s big moment, but if she thinks that Ridge is going to commit to her and only her, she’s as big a love fool as she’s ever been.

Ridge tries and fails to make sense.

Ridge told Brooke that he knew in his heart of hearts that she would never make the CPS call, but he went ahead and annulled their marriage anyway. How does that make any sense?

Never once did we see any indication that Ridge doubted the recording of “Brooke” reporting Thomas to CPS, but now Ridge wants Brooks to believe he was on her side all along?

What a putz!

Sorry, Brooke, but Ridge absolutely meant to hurt you.

Don’t fall for his shabby Prince Charming act again!

B&B opinion: Brooke’s Man-Trapping Skills

Recent comings and goings

Brooke and Taylor’s surprising détente

After learning the truth of what Thomas did, it seemed like Brooke was going to confront Taylor and rub her nose in the mess.

But in the surprise twist of the year, Brooke had her chance to completely and utterly humiliate the woman who stole her husband – and didn’t.

Instead, Brooke showed compassion for Taylor as a mother and as her fellow passenger on Ridge’s endlessly spinning marry-go-round.

There was honest talk, there were tears and even an apology. It was a refreshing change of pace.

This highly anticipated confrontation between Brooke and Taylor, without paints to throw or a cliff to fall over, is easily one of my favorite scenes of the year.

Great work by KA and KKL, as well as the writers who wrote their dialogue.

One more thing…

Did we miss an entire week of high-drama episodes of the Logans and the Forresters fighting over which home is best for Douglas?

No? I didn’t think so.

Could someone please explain to me the reasoning behind having this story abruptly and undramatically end off-screen?

Earlier this year, custody of Douglas was the only thing happening on B&B and now the story is just kaput.

After watching this plot go nowhere for weeks on end, Douglas’s low-energy homecoming to Liam and Hope’s shed being absent of any level of drama seems like a story cheat.

Maybe the writers just got bored with the story and didn’t feel like finishing it. Wouldn’t be the first time.

Quote of the week!

Brooke, to Ridge: “Your son needs some serious professional help. And I’m not talking about Taylor.”

The quiver in her voice! KKL continues to polish this turd of a story.

What do you think?

Who will Ridge pick this week?

Is this the start of a new relationship for Brooke and Taylor?

Will Steffy turn her back on Thomas?
